Question for the moderator and all the experts:
What are the development prospects for DOS in the field of embedded systems? Some time ago there was a surge of research interest in embedded Linux on PDAs. But I feel that, whether in terms of system resource consumption or programming habits,
it can't compare with DOS. What are the prospects for DOS in this area? Please give a technical comparative analysis.
Also, real-time embedded systems have many applications in industrial automation.
I've seen that many domestic industrial PCs use DOS. But they are all old versions from N years ago. No updates.
How is DOS developing as a real-time operating system? Can it handle real-time requirements?
How does it compare with Linux or professional real-time operating systems like VxWork and Turnado?

Many thanks. I wish DOS a better tomorrow!

Abroad, I think DOS should have a bright future in this area.

Could the site admin give some foreign websites about DOS in embedded systems or real-time systems?
It's almost impossible to find materials on these topics in China.
Whenever open-source embedded systems are mentioned, it's always Linux.
Industrial PCs all use old DOS versions from N years ago; it seems like there haven't been any updates for a long time.
Please advise me more.

I have full confidence in DOS!

I'm not very familiar with the specific applications of embedded systems either, but as for open-source embedded DOS systems, the most famous one is GNU/FreeDOS. See www.freedos.org/
