Dear experts:
Little brother has a self-assembled external hard drive: Hitachi 40G; IBM case.
I would like to ask you all if I can make a bootable disk that supports GHOST system under NTFS format?
If yes, please teach me how to do it!
Little brother thanks in advance!

Use SYS to transfer system files, set the BIOS first boot to USB-HDD, connect an external 5V power supply to the mobile hard disk, connect the USB cable. Before the computer detects hardware, the external 5V power supply can only make the mobile hard disk spin but the indicator light of the mobile hard disk closing cannot be on. This must be well coordinated. After the computer detects hardware, the indicator light of the mobile hard disk closing will be on. If it is on first and then goes off after the computer detects hardware, the computer cannot be booted. The rest can refer to the MD-DOS710 super boot disk.

I tried it the other day, and it's okay!
As long as the motherboard's BIOS supports USB-HDD boot, there's no problem!
Set the first boot device in the BIOS to USB-HDD. ...
As for the operating system on the external hard drive, the simplest way is to use DOS's format /s to make it ...

Why doesn't it work even though my motherboard supports USB-HDD?

There is no primary partition on the mobile hard disk, or the primary partition is not activated, or there are no system files

In the WIN9X system, use SYS to transfer system files (FORMAT /S X: also works). Set the first boot disk in the bios to USB-HDD. Connect the mobile hard drive to the computer, turn off the power and restart, the computer detects the hardware, and the indicator light of the mobile hard drive changes from off to on, then it can boot the computer.

It should be noted that restarting cannot make the mobile hard drive boot the computer, because when restarting, the indicator light of the mobile hard drive is on, and after the computer detects the hardware, the indicator light of the mobile hard drive will go off, so it cannot boot the computer. Generally, you need to turn off the power and restart again to work.
