I used shsucd14 to virtualize an ISO containing a Windows 98 system as a virtual CD, and used that CD to install Windows 98. I tried several times and all failed, each time saying there was a problem with the CD and the files were corrupted! But if I copy the Windows 98 system inside to the hard drive, it installs smoothly. Where is the problem?

Can a virtual CD-ROM drive install a system? I remember that when installing Win98, after the machine restarts and continues the installation, it still needs to read from the CD. If you use a virtual CD-ROM drive, will the CD-ROM drive still be there after the restart? Even if it is, after the restart won't the system still be the original DOS system? Or MS-DOS 7.1 under Win98? Maybe the virtual CD-ROM drive has problems under MS-DOS 7.1? I've never used a virtual CD-ROM drive to install a system. I don't think it's possible.

Under MS-DOS 7.10, using SHSUCD not only has no problems, it actually works best, but it really can't be used to install a system from a virtual CD.
