The startup disk for Windows 98 has been greatly changed. The following are the new features for Windows 98.

- Multi-configuration boot menu

Multi-configuration Boot Menu
==============
If you start the computer with the new Windows 98 startup disk, the system will display a boot menu for loading common CD-ROM drives or performing a normal clean boot.

After making a selection, the Config.sys file loads the corresponding CD-ROM driver (if selected), and then loads a 5MB RAMDrive. The RAMDrive stores diagnostic tools necessary to solve common problems.


Note
The RAMdrive may cause the drive letter of the CD-ROM to be shifted back by one letter. If the CD-ROM is usually drive D:, it may now become drive E:.


Real-mode CD-ROM Drivers
=====================
The Windows 98 startup disk contains conventional ATAPI IDE and SCSI CD-ROM drivers. Using this driver, the CD-ROM can work normally in DOS even if the Windows 98 GUI is not available.

Generally speaking, it's still pretty good and worth recommending.

There are a few software that can be updated, for example, XCOPY can be updated to version 1.1, CuteMouse can be updated to version 1.9, etc.

CuteMouse can be updated to version 1.9 because I tried it before, and it is incompatible with MOUSEDOS, so I have been using V1.8. Now I have replaced MOUSEDOS with mousclip, and it should be okay to use V1.9. I don't have XCOPY V1.1 yet, please upload it, okay?
