How can I enter long-filename directories on an FTP site? - China DOS Union Forum

When using wattcp ftp, how can I enter long-filename directories on an FTP site? I tried using "cd the first six letters of the long directory name~number" to get in. Numbers 1 through 4 all worked, but 5 and above don't. What should I do?

After cd, can you enter by directly following it with the long filename? Or try using quotes.

No! For example, cd windows 98 se chs won't enter the "windows 98 se chs" directory.
cd "windows 98 se chs" won't enter it either. There are spaces in the directory name. The directory name is exactly windows 98 se chs. Besides that, there are many other long directory names starting with windows and containing spaces. For example, these:

It's the school's FTP. It can only be accessed from on campus.

Then try Wattcp Lynx. It can definitely enter those directories, and it fully supports long filenames (you need a long filename driver, such as DOSLFN, or ROM-DOS 7.10).

Please give me a download link for Wattcp Lynx! I can't find it in the New DOS Era software categorized downloads!

Can Wattcp Lynx be used under DOS?
