I made some more changes to the MS-DOS 7.10 boot disk I created before, uploaded it to the website, download address:
http://newdos.yginfo.net/dosware/mdos71bd.zip
Note: this boot disk has many features, for example it can boot Windows 3.2 directly, automatically loads DOSLFN 0.32m to fully support Chinese and English long filenames under DOS, includes common tools such as MOUSCLIP, DOSKEY, SMARTDRV, FORMAT, etc.

I don't know what some of the files inside the boot disk are used for. Wengier, could you attach a brief boot disk documentation file? Thanks!

I also hope Wengier will make a README.txt when creating the boot disk, so that everyone can understand what has been updated in your boot disk, right?

I've finally written a documentation file for the boot disk, the contents are as follows:

README.TXT

Documentation File for This MS-DOS 7.10 Super Boot Disk
---------------------------------
Wengier March 2, 2003

I spent quite a bit of time making this MS-DOS 7.10 boot disk myself. It has many very powerful and practical features, and I believe it is much better than similar DOS boot disks on the Internet, with a large number of practical functions and special features added.
In particular, its comprehensive support for a DOS boot LOGO screen, long filenames, large hard disks, large memory, FAT32, NTFS, USB, etc. is, I believe, unmatched by the vast majority of similar DOS boot disks. Let me introduce it below.

+-----------+
| Main Features: |
+-----------+

--------------------------
- DOS boot LOGO screen
- Multi-configuration boot menu
- Comprehensive Chinese and English long filename support
- Comprehensive (V)FAT12/16/32 support
- NTFS drive support
- USB drive support
- Large hard disk support
- Large memory support
- Various CD-ROM support
- RAM disk function
- Chinese support
- Comprehensive mouse support
- High free conventional memory
- High system stability
- System maintenance functions
- Support for various archives
- Graphical file management
- Can boot Windows directly
- Many practical tools
--------------------------

DOS boot LOGO screen
===============
Modified from my own Windows startup screen, with a DOS boot logo and the animated bar at the bottom included. This way, DOS has its own boot LOGO screen too!

Multi-configuration boot menu
==============
When this MS-DOS 7.10 boot disk starts, three options will appear. The first is to boot using EMM386, the second is to boot using UMBPCI, and the third additionally includes support for NTFS and USB drives.
Because EMM386 may not work properly on some computers, while UMBPCI's main problem is that it does not support some motherboards, the user is allowed to choose once between EMM386 and UMBPCI at boot time.
This way, users can use this boot disk better to start their computers.

Comprehensive Chinese and English long filename support
========================
It uses the DOSLFN long filename driver so that pure DOS can fully support and use long filenames, including Chinese long filenames, just like in a DOS box under Win9x.

Comprehensive (V)FAT12/16/32 support
========================
MS-DOS 7.10 itself provides complete support for FAT12/16/32 partitions, so the boot disk inherits this function. The long filename driver mentioned above enables support for VFAT (virtual FAT).

NTFS drive support
==============
By using NTFSDOS, this boot disk can fully support NTFS drives, including long filenames on NTFS partitions.
When you choose the third option in the boot menu (that is, the last one), the system will automatically load the NTFSDOS driver to support NTFS drives.
If you want to load it manually at the command line, that is also possible: just execute NTFSDOS or NTFSDOS /U (/U means enabling Unicode support).

USB drive support
=============
When you choose the third option in the boot menu (that is, the last one), the system will automatically load USB drivers such as DUSE and Motto Hairu to provide support for USB drives.
For example USB hard disks, USB CD-ROM drives, USB floppy drives, USB ZIP drives, etc. Sometimes you also need to manually set some driver parameters to better support your USB drive.
Or you can manually load these drivers at the command line with commands such as CTLOAD and ADDEV, for example by executing CTLOAD DUSE.EXE DRIVES=2.

Large hard disk support
==========
Supports large hard disks of dozens of GB, including Int13X extended partitions, etc. Likewise, the various tools provided in this boot disk also support large hard disks, so you don't need to worry that this boot disk cannot recognize your high-capacity hard disk.

Large memory support
==========
Supports up to as much as 2GB of memory, and provides XMS and UMB memory, to maximize the computer's capabilities.

Various CD-ROM support
============
By using the best universal CD-ROM driver, it supports various IDE/ATAPI and some SCSI/ASPI and even USB CD-ROM drives, and it is fast and uses little memory.

RAM disk function
==========
By using the best virtual RAM disk tool XMSDSK, it provides a 4M RAM disk, and you can freely change its size at the command line with the XMSDSK command.

Chinese support
========
The Chinese support of this boot disk is reflected in several aspects. First, the long filename driver DOSLFN uses code page 936 (Simplified Chinese) to fully support Chinese long filenames;
second, it comes with the small Pocket Dragon Chinese character support system, and after starting it, it can fully support the display of Chinese characters under DOS (including Chinese long filenames).
At the same time, this documentation file is also in Chinese, so after starting the Chinese character support system you can directly use commands such as MORE and EDIT at the command line to view its contents.

Comprehensive mouse support
==============
By using the best mouse driver CuteMouse, it supports various serial and PS/2 mice, and is very fast;
together with the universal MouseClip program, you can also use the mouse at the DOS command line, and it supports copy/paste and simulated arrow key functions.

High free conventional memory
==============
After booting the system with this boot disk, although many practical features are loaded, free conventional memory is still usually as high as 625-630K, and free UMB memory is also usually dozens of K.
This way, when you use it to boot, running any program will not prompt for insufficient memory, because there is a large amount of free memory available.

High system stability
==============
This boot disk includes the KILLER and ESCAPE programs, greatly enhancing system stability:
KILLER: can automatically trap incorrect specifications in running programs and return to DOS, in order to prevent system instability or hangs;
ESCAPE: lets you press F12 under any circumstances to return to DOS, in order to prevent system hangs.
It can be seen that KILLER and ESCAPE complement each other: the former is system-initiated, the latter is user-initiated, maximizing system stability.

System maintenance functions
============
In addition to including common DOS disk tools such as CHKDSK, FORMAT, and FDISK, the boot disk also includes many practical system maintenance tools such as BOOTPART and SRC Tools.
BOOTPART is a command-line boot partition manager with very powerful functions; SRC Tools can save/restore/check a disk's boot sector/MBR/FAT, making it very good for maintaining the system and disks.

Support for various archives
==============
The boot disk includes practical archive extraction tools such as PKUNZIP 2.50, UNARJ, EXTRACT, and UNDISK, and most of them support long filenames.
Therefore, this boot disk supports ZIP, ARJ, CAB, IMG, and various other common archive formats and disk images, making it much more convenient to use.

Graphical file management
==================
The boot disk includes the Volkov Commander (VC) file manager, a very powerful, practical, and well-known file management tool with a graphical interface, and it fully supports long filenames.
After the system starts, it will automatically prompt whether to start VC, that is, it will display the following message:
Press ENTER in 2 seconds if you want to start Volkov Commander..
At this time, if you press Enter within 2 seconds, VC 4.99 will start automatically; otherwise it will not start automatically, but you can manually start it at any time later at the command line with the VC command.

Can boot Windows directly
===================
This MS-DOS 7.10 boot disk provides the function of booting Windows, including versions such as Win3.x and Win9x, and works hand in hand with Windows.
And as described in the features above, this MS-DOS 7.10 boot disk fully supports long filenames, FAT32 partitions, large hard disks, and other functions, so it will not have any incompatibility with Windows.

Many practical tools
==============
This boot disk contains many very practical tools, such as UMBPCI, DOSLFN, PKZIP, LBACACHE, etc. For details please see the file list below and their own documentation files.

Good, could you explain in detail what command lines are used to load USB devices under DOS? I've found that different brands of USB flash drives and computers with different hardware specs need different methods to drive USB devices! It's best to load them directly at the DOS command line, not put them on the boot disk, because in many cases if too much gets loaded, it will hang. Many thanks!
