Today, the author of DOSLFN told me that he released the latest version 0.32l today. I just tested it, and it can now fully support Chinese long filenames! Download address:

Everyone can treat it as an essential tool, and even put it in C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT, because it is very stable and will not have any conflicts with WIN.

One thing to note: in order for DOSLFN to automatically load the Chinese long filename table to support Chinese long filenames, you can first use the COUNTRY command in CONFIG.SYS to set the code page to 936, or use the CHCP command to switch the code page to 936, or you can also use the /Z parameter of DOSLFN to manually set the code page to 936, for example: LH DOSLFN /Z CP936UNI.TBL. If it is Traditional Chinese, then just use CP950UNI.TBL instead of CP936UNI.TBL.

But when it comes to supporting Traditional Chinese filenames, it's a complete mess……….

There is no problem with Traditional Chinese either, as long as you set the code page to 950.

Traditional Chinese filenames are still wrong……

I'll test Traditional Chinese. As for GBK support, it is already explained in the TXT file of DOSLFN. The TBL file for GBK is too large (48K), while GB2312 is only 15K, so only GB2312 is supported and GBK cannot be supported for now. Likewise, because the TBL for Korean is also too large (47K), it cannot be supported either. Right now DBCS only supports Chinese and Japanese.

As for DOSLFN 0.32m, it mainly fixes two BUGs that I reported to its author, for example the BUG where “DOSLFN /?” would crash the machine. The download address is the same as for 0.32l.

It's extremely useful. If you say it's useless, then you definitely don't know how to use it. Note: the best effect is when used under MS-DOS 7.10.

I mentioned the problem you brought up to the author of DOSLFN. He said it might be a problem with the CP950 table, and it has now been replaced, so you can download it again and try it. Also, now even Korean is supported. GBK still won't work for now, because it is 64.5K, larger than the 64K maximum.
