I have a second-hand Toshiba laptop, model: TOSHBA 660 CDT/1.4.
Now the boot password is lost and it cannot boot.
I plan to reinstall the system, but cannot enter the BIOS.
I specially ask the experts for advice.
Thank you in advance!

Either F1 or F2; But if you have a password and don't know it, then you're in trouble; Here's a suggestion: Download various software from the internet that can clear the entire CMOS or just the CMOS password, try them one by one, then restart, and you'll find you can get in; That's how I did it; Don't use software that reads the password, it doesn't work for laptops.

Is it the BIOS password or the system login password?

Climbing buddy, what kind of talk is this? It goes against your usual stance of not posting threads that don't solve problems.

The following is the statement quoted from qzwqzw on 2004-3-17 10:15:59:
Either F1 or F2;
But if you have the password but don't know it, then you're in trouble;
Here's a suggestion: download various software from the Internet that can clear the entire CMOS or only the CMOS password, try them one by one, and then restart, and you'll find that you can enter. That's how I got through it; don't use the software that reads the password, it's useless for laptops.

Where can I download "software to clear CMOS password"?
Please give me some advice!

Brother Climbing, what kind of words is this, which is against your consistent argument (not posting threads that don't solve problems)?

Occasionally I can also water a bit? Hehe

I do have a strong dislike for Japanese products, especially Toshiba laptops, because they used to (and I guess still do) discriminate against Chinese users.

Actually, the owner's problem can be solved by directly calling Toshiba's after-sales service phone and seeking a solution instead of fumbling here. If you can't boot into the DOS system, there's no way to solve this problem through software methods. Only the method of discharging the CMOS as mentioned above can solve it. As for how to discharge the CMOS in a notebook, I really haven't seen relevant information, so it's better to directly call the after-sales phone.

I also use a Toshiba laptop. The general way to enter the BIOS is: start the computer, press the ESC key, and then press the F1 key. But it doesn't always work; it only works for older versions. The new ones can't enter the BIOS, and you have to use software to set it. For example, my 5200 series is like that. I hope it will be useful to you!

Even the best laptop computers have a battery to preserve CMOS SETUP. Find it and simply remove it or discharge it!
