I wonder whether there is any English dictionary software for DOS, preferably one where you can add your own vocabulary.

UCDOS7 itself comes with Xiwang Cihai, and it can be used completely independently of UCDOS. Just find a full installation edition of UCDOS online. There are others too, like Jishitong, etc.

When I was a kid I used one under DOS called Langdao 3.0... and there was also qdict. I don't know whether they still exist now.
