winimp's compression ratio seems very low. I got pretty good results using it to compress bbs (though not as good as cab), but when compressing xlqy it wasn't even half as good as winrar. I tried both algorithms.
uharc has the highest compression ratio I've ever seen. uharc0.4 is incompatible with earlier versions, and its compression ratio is also worse than earlier versions. The author released 0.5, but I never managed to find it. What I use most often is still cab, because cab can be opened without installing anything. Interestingly, if you first tar the files to be compressed (not gz) and then cab them, the compression ratio is a bit better, and the more files there are, the more obvious it is. Maybe because it compresses the filename list together too. |

winimp has the highest compression ratio when compressing text and JPG images!
Because this program uses special compression processing for text and JPG images! |

Does it go by extension?
I used it to compress 仙侣奇缘 (all .c files and readme files without extensions), and it took 5 disks; with winrar it took 3 disks |

Not just the extension, but also the file format!
The key thing is also choosing the bottom compression method! |

I tried both Algorithm 1 - Maximum and Algorithm 2, and it's still not high
Just now I also compressed a Merck Manual, winrar got it to 2.8M, Algorithm 1 - Maximum got it to 3M, and Algorithm 2 got it to 3.1M |

Hello everyone, I have a question.. The old books all said how great AIN was, but after doing experiments I found that AIN's results aren't that great either. Its compression ratio isn't much better than ARJ and ZIP, the difference is too small, it's just a bit faster. RAR's compression ratio is even higher than its. So why do some people call it such an excellent compression program???!!! Oh right, where can I find AIN's registration code? Also, if anyone has a good compression program, please recommend one, thanks

What's WinCAB for? Doesn't CABARC.EXE alone solve everything? It can both create CABs and extract CABs.. Wincab is a gui for makecab. Please read http://compression.ca/act-win.html before continuing the discussion |

Uharc is the strongest! Compression ratio as high as 53%!! (That is, the compressed size is 53% of the original size!!)
