China DOS Union

I strongly support setting up an independent portal to establish a new DOS standard. If there's anything I can do to help, just let me know. Although I'm not extremely proficient in DOS, I can be a DOS tester. Even more, I can mobilize several of my net friends to join in the testing. We all know how to use virtual machines, and I can even use my own computer for testing! So no matter how long the development takes, we'll wait, waiting for our own DOS!

I don't like this project, but I want to try doing it alone, starting from scratch. Anyway, every day is boring

The idea is very good, but it seems there is no follow-up!

Why is there no one organizing and starting the research and development? I really want to consult with everyone!

I also think so. This system should be able to be compatible with multiple systems! And it should have practical significance and a Windows-like interface and Linux-like security!
I am also a novice, only able to write some BAT, only know HELLOWORD in C++, and have a partial understanding of ASM.

I think it can be called Cdu OS, that is, the system of China DOS Union. This is a 16-color LOGO made with Windows XP Paint and converted to a PNG file. Everyone can convert it back to a BMP file.

Why was it initiated by someone, but why is there no movement?

I wrote my own master boot program twelve years ago for the convenience of multi - operating system booting.

DOS still has strong vitality. At least now U - disk booting and low - level maintenance still need it.

I think it's better to imitate the msdos source code. Will it be sued for non - profit research and personal use?

It's a big project to make a brand - new DOS. It's more practical to directly modify and expand on msdos. For example, the access to NTFS, I've searched a lot and none is as good as the one built in ghost. Also, currently we are facing the support for larger partitions and files in exFAT. I formatted my 8G - plus U - disk into exFAT just to copy a single file larger than 4G, but obviously it can't be used as a boot disk at the same time. I think first we should start from modifying the partition boot to find io.sys. After all, exFAT is an extension based on FAT, which is easier than dealing with NTFS.
