It's still better to write GRUB to the MBR. Otherwise, if you format the disk in DOS, it will be gone again.

Why doesn't the owner set up a hidden partition to hide the GRUB files and other some PE files? Write GRUB to the MBR. Isn't that better than putting it in the C drive? It would also be much more convenient for maintenance.
