MLD, after trial use, I found that you remove the virus prompt by deleting sysdm.cpl, which makes it impossible to view system information. In fact, you can modify sysdm.cpl to remove the virus prompt.

Open sysdm.cpl with a hex editor
Find: 74 18 ff 76 0c 1e 57
Replace: e9 17 00 76 0c 1e 57
This can remove the prompt that the master boot information has been modified

What's the use without a network?

Chopsticks can't paint oil paintings, but they can be used for eating! A thing may be useless in this place, but it will be very useful when used in a useful place!

This thing is pretty good, I support it. Downloaded one and modified it to make a multi-system bootable disk.

It runs normally in the virtual machine, but after booting to the startup screen, the computer will automatically shut down for no apparent reason.

It runs normally in the virtual machine, but after booting up to the startup screen, the computer will automatically shut down for no reason. The same problem happens to me too.

After downloading and burning to a CD, it can boot up and basic functions are normal. Thanks MLD.

But there are some problems during use:
1. Difficult to delete files, a box pops up: Recycle bin error, do you want to permanently delete the files in it? (General meaning) Select "Yes", and then there is a long wait. If deleting a folder, it freezes after the above process.
2. Running some small software always pops up a box: Not enough memory. Should we enlarge the virtual disk to 48M - 64M?

For me, larger size and slower startup are not problems. As long as basic functions are satisfied, such as: copy, paste, delete, and can run some software like RAR, ZIP, SCAN, etc.

I used it to burn two 200M small CDs. One is for my own use and the other is for my friend. My friend was so happy after using it that he gave me a CD drive the next day. Hehe, both of us feel like we got a good deal!...

After seeing the following posts, it is indeed frustrating. What you mentioned are the simplest and most basic functions. If even these can't be achieved, then it's not as good as the DOS environment?!

For this reason, I specifically took out the CD to conduct the experiment shown in the following screenshots. I found a nearly 150MB folder, which is the directory of the win98 installation disk as seen in the picture, to do copy and delete experiments. Among them, the copying took about 50 seconds, and deleting this nearly 150MB folder only took about 2 seconds, flashing by so quickly that I didn't even have time to capture the screenshot!...

As for other issues, I think the following pictures have made it clear, and I don't want to say more......

I don't doubt the description and the attached pictures above by the original poster. But the situation that I can't delete files is also a fact, please see the attached pictures.

The file I deleted is that TW.ZIP file (600K). Clicking "Yes" will repeatedly pop up this box 5-6 times.

Maybe the situation I encountered is not a common one, but since I encountered it, I can only first come to the original poster for help.

Although I encountered this situation, I still feel very happy because it is better than that "WIN XP running on the CD", much smaller in size, much faster to boot, and has quite a few functions. So thank MLD again.

It didn't succeed with you, it's not that I'm disappointed, it should be that I let you down. I'm sorry that I repeatedly experimented and there was no problem as you said. The following is a screenshot of deleting a 30MB folder. I couldn't get this screenshot if I didn't encounter a read-only file dialog box.

I also really want to help you find the reason. From so many previous pictures, from the letters I received from everyone, most were successful. Maybe I still have to find the reason from your side.

Great expert, can you write out a detailed step-by-step usage explanation? We are all so noob. We only know how to download, but don't know how to use it. Do we need to use memory virtual disks and so on. Please, thank you very much.

After burning, it can be used. I tried and it can also be used like this:

Under the premise of the operating system being Windows 2000 or XP and their dual-boot or multi-boot using them.

Several software are needed: WinISO software, WinImage software, Vfloppy software

Steps:
1. Use WinISO to extract the boot files (.wbt) and dazip.exe, command.com files from the mini-Windows 98 CD image, and save them in c:\mini98.
2. Rename.wbt to.img
3. Edit autoexec.bat in the.img file, change the last line %cdrom% to c:\mini98 (if using other saved paths, change accordingly). This step can use the WinImage software, first extract autoexec.bat, edit it and put it back.
4. Make the boot information, use the Vfloppy software. This software can boot through the.img file. The principle is to make a file of the boot sector, and call the.img file to boot through the Windows 2000/XP boot menu.

Not quite understand. Is it intended to boot from the hard disk? If so, then it can be definitely said that your first step was already wrong.
