DOS and Unix mainly have different application targets. DOS is mainly used for PCs, while Unix is mainly used for servers and computer hacker-level experts. In the PC market, DOS had actually already left Unix far behind 20 years ago (back then, what personal users used Unix? Didn't they all use DOS?). Now DOS represented by FreeDOS stands for freedom, openness, and development on the PC.

Poster above, just compare the number of users of FreeBSD and all DOSes and that's enough—it's heaven and earth apart. FreeBSD is always UNIX on the PC, right?

There are far more personal users of DOS and its various GUIs (such as Win3.x/9x/X-WIN, etc.) than users of Unix platforms such as FreeBSD. Besides, FreeBSD is the genuine article; Linux etc. are garbage.

Doesn't your forum advocate freedom and openness? Everyone knows that M$'s Win3.x/9x and other operating systems are not open source, so what are you doing with those garbage operating systems? No matter how garbage LINUX is, it's still much better than DOS. BSD will always be my favorite.

Linux etc. are garbage??? Then what system isn't garbage? Do you think linux is all huge stuff with several CDs like the redhat distribution?
