Wengier's IO.SYS was tested on my machine. When there is a WIN98's MSDOS.SYS, it can't proceed. Only after shielding (or renaming) the items in MSDOS.SYS with ";" can it boot. When selecting "Step-by-step confirmation" in the boot menu, it freezes after executing "Process the system registry". Is there a problem when checking MSDOS.SYS?

Actually, in most systems, you don't need to care about that item in MSDOS.SYS (of course, it's best to set SystemReg=0). Only in individual systems (such as the system mentioned by lydong) do you have to set SystemReg=0.

First boot with it, then directly run the relevant software to repair, such as NetResq, and it won't damage the data.
