Still, Ghost is easier to handle. Anyway, there are also software that automatically detect hard disk interfaces, which can be found in those system software forums.

The last sentence means: The WIM image format is hardware-agnostic, which means you only need one image to address many different hardware configurations. It doesn't mean that the made WIM image can't be restored to machines with different configurations. Because it's file-based, and Windows is composed of files including configuration information, so it can be adapted to different hardware configurations through the file-based structure.
