Antivirus software doesn't recognize us, so it treats us as villains.
Some antivirus software, as long as it finds unrecognized code in the boot sector, it thinks it's a virus.
There is very little difference between the 0.4.2 official version and the version on January 7th. Both have no major problems and are usable.
If you want to use emm386 noems, then you need the separately uploaded grub.exe file later.
Because there are indeed some new bug reports for 0.4.2 that are hanging and not resolved, so 0.4.3 will be released soon. I hope that after the release of 0.4.3, there will be no remaining problems. So I hope everyone reports problems as soon as possible now.

I tried it on another machine today, McAfee and KV2007 didn't give an alarm, it seems to be a false positive.

Looking forward to version 0.43. It would be best if in the new version, the screen display during startup is shielded, and the version date and that code number on the display menu are also removed, making the menu display more concise.

Disabling startup information makes it inconvenient to troubleshoot when startup fails. Version information is the key mark for troubleshooting.

The latest version of GRUB and the recent several previous versions were tested on my HP 3145AU laptop, and it was found that the "Halt" command cannot be used to shut down!
It works normally on my desktop computer!
The configuration of my laptop is as follows:
Product model: 3145AU
Machine configuration:

The code for shutting down I haven't modified. Suspect it's that your machine's BIOS doesn't support the shutdown function of int15.
If you can use a certain DOS program to shut down normally, you can upload this program. If you know what assembly instructions can be used to shut down, you can post the assembly statements.

My computer (under pure DOS 7.1 version) enters SHUTDOWN -S, cannot shut down, and the prompt may be no ATX power control.
The power supply of my notebook should not be an ATX power supply.
But using "SHUTDOWN -R" can restart normally.

This is clear. Your notebook doesn't support the shutdown function of int15. Restarting and shutting down are different. Restarting doesn't need to call int15.

This has nothing to do with whether you know assembly language or not. Even if you are proficient in assembly language, if your machine doesn't support the known shutdown methods, you can't shut it down.
You can search "XXX (machine model) shutdown" in Google to see if there are any solutions.
