Then the best way at present is still to use the HX version of XCOPY mentioned last time (it is in the following boot disk, supports Chinese and English long file names, although it is not really in real mode as a whole, but the XCOPY function is all available; compared with other XCOPYs, there are various problems).

As far as I know, there are no other truly perfect command-line alternatives. For example, LCOPY only supports English and does not support Chinese long filenames; ACOPY has weak functions and is not very flexible; Sysinternals and ROM-DOS's XCOPY support long filenames but have some obvious bugs; Omnifs is too large, too slow, and relatively cumbersome to operate, etc.

After careful testing, the xcopy provided by the webmaster is indeed perfect. It retains the original long file names after copying long file names in subdirectories. However, the xcopy in FreeDOS cannot correctly recognize the input source path and target path.

Webmaster, where did your xcopy come from? It can't run on the VPC virtual machine, and HXRT has an error again, showing many error addresses.

This is a problem with VPC itself, not being compatible with HDPMI32 (causing not only this XCOPY but also some other programs to have this issue). The documentation of HDPMI32 mentions compatibility with virtual machines like VMware, Qemu, Bochs, etc., but never mentions VPC, so it can be used in other virtual machines or real machines.

Tried it, and it feels pretty good. But there seems to be some operational issues with this bootable disk in VPC.

You can try different virtual machines (and real machines) more. If only a certain virtual machine (such as VPC) has problems, it is often its own bug (like the post on floor 37). The most fundamental solution is to correct some problems of this virtual machine itself.
