Some comparisons between VMWare and Virtual PC
Recently I studied VMWare and Virtual PC a bit and found they are very different in their technical implementation.
Memory section
First, VMWare uses an implementation method similar to preempting resources. That is, after you allocate a memory size for the virtual machine, once it starts running it will occupy the memory you allocated to it, regardless of whether it is actually used.
VPC is just the opposite; it will dynamically increase according to your actual usage.
Comment: It looks as if VPC’s method is better, but actual running speed is definitely much faster with VMWare.
*Hard disk section
VMWare: after you specify the size of its hard disk, it cannot be changed, but you can add a second hard disk. Similar to a PC
VPC can dynamically expand the hard disk.
Comment: In actual use, VMWare’s disk efficiency is far higher than VPC’s
Summary
Since VMWare is much better than VPC at PC emulation, why did Microsoft choose VPC??? It should be noted that the VPC company does not only make PC emulators; PPC emulators and PS emulators are also their products.
PS: You cannot run a PPC emulator on a VMWare virtual machine!!!
*Actually both can use fixed-size disks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You probably haven’t run "VPC’s virtual disk wizard", right???"
DOS不是万能的,没有DOS是万万不能的
