I used the CD version of DOS 7.1 in the evening and it was pretty good!!! Just had a small problem, couldn't boot from the CD during installation.

Boot from a bootable CD, copy the CD-ROM driver to the hard drive, then configure the CD-ROM driver on the hard drive, and then the CD-ROM will be recognized from the hard drive!
