DOS stands for freedom, openness and progress. Let us work hard, learn from the openness and GNU spirit of FreeDOS and Linux, and together build and grow a free GNU GPL world!

It seems I have to use the last resort. Make a GHOST of the usable C drive from another machine to my computer, and then reinstall the drivers. But in that case, I'll have to organize the registry again. Oh my god, it's going to tire me out again.

Ah? Install a WORD?
I'm dizzy, I just don't like using that thing, it's really too cumbersome
Still Notepad is the simplest
I'm going to GHOST
But I still hope you can find out the reason for this problem, otherwise I will still have trouble in the future
Thank you

The following is a quote from llmwxt on 2004-1-25 1:38:26:
My system is WIN98, and I often use the notepad that comes with WIN98 to make some simple web page modifications.
But after I reinstalled WIN98, the system always reports:
"Out of memory. Cannot complete the operation. Please close one or more applications to increase available memory, and then try again."
But it was okay before. I also know that the notepad of WIN98 cannot handle things exceeding 64K.
But I just copy and paste some very short code, why can't it be used?
How should I change it so that it can be used?
A little suggestion:
Please empty the folder that stores system temporary files, usually the C:\WINDOWS\TEMP directory,
and then give it a try!

Found:
The Windows Notepad program can only handle data within 64K bytes. When you try to paste data exceeding this value, the system will prompt "Out of memory, the XX operation cannot be completed" or "The XX file cannot be saved". This is caused by the imperfect function of the Windows Notepad program itself. You must use WordPad or WPS and other text programs that can handle large amounts of data.

Hehe, I just used it on another machine and know what the reason is
But I still don't know how to solve it
All 815PE motherboards are fine
But all 845PE motherboards can't be used at all
The machines here are all copied from the disk made by GHOST without any drivers
So it must be a hardware incompatibility problem
But how to solve it? Can you help me?

I think it shouldn't be a hardware compatibility problem. The problem should still be in the system settings. The chipset drivers of the motherboard can solve some defects in hardware functions.

But the same size of code can be copied and pasted on an 815PE board,
but it doesn't work on an 845PE board.
Why is that?
I just repeatedly tested on my two machines. I can't simulate the phenomenon you described. The person obsessed with DOS said that patching should also be effective, right?

I happened to have 815PE and 845PE machines, and I also conducted experiments, but I didn't simulate the situation that llmwxt mentioned. I don't know the system settings of llmwxt's machine.

llmwxt's is a cloned 98, lacking installation detection and setup. It should be fine without cloning.

The ones that didn't have problems were all made by GHOST, and this one that has problems was installed with WIN98 directly. I really can't figure it out, strange thing~~ Hehe
