For people like us who just play around with programming, there's no need to draw such a sharp line. Programming is supposed to be enjoyable, so why turn that enjoyment into suffering? Xiang Shaolong is still himself in the modern age, and still himself if thrown into the Qin dynasty. If you're playing with programming on WIN, you're still playing with it on DOS too. There are kindred spirits everywhere, and supporters everywhere too, right?
