Does the file damage you mentioned mean damage caused when writing to the floppy with HD-COPY, or was the image file itself already damaged?

What are you talking about. The MORE command has three usages, for example:

MORE CONFIG.SYS
TYPE CONFIG.SYS | MORE
MORE < CONFIG.SYS

The functions of the above three usages are the same; among them, the first is obviously the simplest.
