After WINRAR is installed, you can set it to integrate into the right-click menu like this:

In WINRAR's :

Then you'll have right-click menu integration:

I've already installed it, and then deleted it again. I don't know why, but it always blue-screened before entering the system. Besides, it's nowhere near as good as he described. At least it's not as easy to use as the Win98SE installation edition. It lacks web functionality, which is not convenient!

I'm already using it. After installing hardware it's 137M, after installing IE6 it's 151M, Internet settings were also successful, and cloned into a 61M backup.

Brother, which of his instructions did you follow to install it? I installed it some time ago too. It was just a bit troublesome when installing drivers, and now that's been solved. It's just that virtual dial-up still can't get online, it always says hardware information can't be found, and I don't know how to solve it. I asked the original author, and he uses a router to get online, which is different from my situation. He gave me a revised set of instructions at www.tz2003.com/yfex/ , but the problem still wasn't solved. Since I no longer have my original 98 system now, there's no way to back up the registry, and I'm too lazy to reinstall 98 again~~ If you have time, could you explain in detail how you installed the network part? Thanks a lot

To be honest, it really is rather difficult to get installed properly. The cloning takes less than 1 minute, but the rest of the installation can take a whole day! Software installation is no problem; the main thing is hardware installation, there are always exclamation marks and question marks. But if the installation is completely successful, then it is indeed very easy to use, so I can't bear to give it up. I'm still using it now!

Everyone's situation is different, so I don't know about your problem either. What I did was install the clone on drive C:, then install the hardware. I set Win98's virtual memory, Internet temporary folder, and all software installations to drive D:. After disk scan and defragmentation both worked with no problems, I started installing win2000 on drive C: (that's right, two systems installed on drive C:!). I also set virtual memory, Internet temporary folder, and all software installations to drive D:, and after optimizing and slimming down win2000, I then did disk scan and defragmentation again. (Note: from then on, don't do disk defragmentation under 98 anymore, do it under win2000 instead.) After confirming there were no problems, I made the clone backup. At that point drive C: was using only 688M, and the clone backup was only 298M!

I've been in contact with the author of that win98 Plus. He doesn't really approve of putting the 98+2K dual system together on drive C:, saying it affects the performance of the Plus system. But after I installed it, I didn't see any problems, so I can only try out his suggestion later.

Hope this helps you, and good luck!

Sorry, after saying all that I still didn't reply to your network installation question. Under 98 I installed IE6.0, and the hardware is an 8139 network card. Luckily, the installation went very smoothly, so I didn't really notice any problems.

Is there any way to install the minimum stuff needed to support "Desktop Update" (that is, make the interface like the IE-integrated interface of 98)?

Right now I only install IE4, but IE4 seems unable to do a custom install, so it installs a bunch of useless stuff

LK, when I installed W98plus2, I tried N different methods and still couldn't enable the multimedia functions for the sound part. The sound card driver installed successfully, but when I go into Multimedia in Control Panel, the Audio section is all grayed out, so naturally there's no sound. So frustrating. Could anyone who installed it successfully please give some pointers!!!

Before installing, please first export the REG file of the driver information registry from your own original properly installed system, after it has been fully configured, and only then install win98plus. After the GHO is done, first import this registry file, then install the drivers for each board/card.

Note: what you export is the contents of the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Enum branch, not the contents of the entire registry.

It can't normally access the webpage at bt.btchina.net. Clicking it pops up a download window instead of opening the webpage..

Heh, the second edition I made was slimmed down to only 20M, and it has more features than this. Mine can run from a 64M RAM disk. When I have time I want to try getting it to run from a CD and see if it works.

I want it...

Let me talk about how it was after trying it out:
The machine I tested it on was P3 500/TNT2 16M/40G hard drive/D-Link 530TX/VIA694X/256M.
The first one I installed was the W98plus1.gho he provided. This system is based on the first edition of Win98. Both hardware and software installation went very smoothly. Internet access at my workplace is shared, so I didn't test using a modem or ADSL dial-up to get online. Since the author optimized the network, the Internet speed was very fast, and the speed of browsing webpages and downloading was simply excellent. The browser used was opera.
As for application software, I tried a slimmed-down edition of office 97, but later found that the WPS.Office.2003.Green.Edition version was the best. This WPS 2003, only 10M in size, can fully support Microsoft's office file formats.
The author had already integrated archive software and image viewer software into it, I just replaced WinRAR with the latest version.
Because I wanted to watch DVDRip movies downloaded from the Internet and run the MAME emulator, I only installed DX8.1.
I installed the NERO5 CD burning software, and CD burning worked too. I tested data CDs and MP3 CDs and both had no problems.
I have to mention the shortcomings of W98plus1. First, Explorer: its address bar can't accept input and can't copy either, which is rather inconvenient. Since the browser used is opera, some websites can't be accessed, which is also inconvenient. When installing the driver for the motherboard's built-in AC97 sound card, I found that only drivers in .inf format could be installed, while WDM format ones could not, so the effect when playing MP3s was really too poor.
There is no "Show Desktop" function, which is also inconvenient.
After that I didn't continue testing the W98plus2 based on the second edition of Win98. Instead, I downloaded 98lite, then installed the second edition of Win98 and began trimming the system manually. Combining it with the advantages of W98plus, I kept the IE-kernel-based Explorer, successfully installed the WDM-format sound card driver, and got proper MP3 playback. Of course, most importantly, I kept the author's network optimizations and disabled the swap file. After slimming down the system, I installed IE6, DX8.1, MyIE0.8, and NERO6. The system size is now 222M. It can very conveniently go online, watch DVDRip, and burn CDs. I didn't slim it down any further.
Oh, and I deleted all the input methods that came with the system and switched to 万能无笔.
But it still has its inconvenient points. Because I often play Stud at the China Game Center, and have to open at least 20 accounts on one machine to collect gold coins, sigh, no way around it, I still have to use Win2003.

Now I've found a new problem: when playing CS1.5 with the D3D driver, the sound suddenly cuts out; with the OPGL driver there's no sound at all
