I found that ucshell works fine on your boot disk, but when moved to another boot disk it has problems; for example, after ALT+D (temporarily exit), there is only a flashing cursor and it won't move...
Also, were you loading DOSLFN at the beginning for UCSHELL? But I found that UCSHELL still supports long filenames even without loading DOSLFN!

What other boot disk do you want to move it to?

UCSHELL is a multitask switcher under DOS, but it does not itself support long filenames; even if DOSLFN is loaded, it still does not support long filenames. UCSHELL, like Win3.x's "Program Manager", uses the shortcut description format inside GRP files, not the long filename format in Win9x. You can't say that just because the names of shortcuts in Win3.x's "Program Manager" can also exceed 8 characters, it therefore supports long filenames, can you?

The reason for loading DOSLFN is mainly so that the DOS programs in the shortcuts created in UCSHELL can support long filenames, such as EDIT.COM, Volkov Commander, and so on..

LFNFOR ON: enable long filename support for the FOR command;
VERIFY ON: enable file verification;
TM /R=30 /D=250: set the keyboard input rate;
LH KILLER: load the KILLER program into UMB memory.

All three items work in Connectix Virtual PC. I haven't tested on a real machine because I have no floppy drive. I'd like to ask webmaster Wengier something: I want to add a few things on the basis of your boot disk: add a shortcut in ucshell to automatically use Ghost to back up hard disk C to another partition, add a shortcut to automatically restore a system from a CD GHO to drive C, and add another shortcut to automatically restore a GHO from the hard disk to drive C (of course I will put Ghost.exe on the CD), and then add this boot disk to a bootable CD. I wonder whether this is feasible? Also, does the webmaster know of any software that can emulate a perfect floppy drive, one that is readable and writable? What I mean is that I don't have a floppy drive, but a lot of software, such as boot disk creation, still requires a floppy drive, so I'd like to find software to replace one.

swdlmxy: of course shortcuts can be added freely, after all its extensibility is very strong.. and there is still quite a bit of usable space left on the floppy disk.
