This is probably the most commonly used one. It can be done with a small program called FAKECD, for example: FAKECD C:\DOS

Does the function of specifying a directory as a virtual CD-ROM drive have the same effect under WINDOWS? Is there similar software under WINDOWS?
Could some expert give me some guidance?

2: Virtualize IMG/ISO CD image files as a CD-ROM drive:
This can be done with the SHSUCDHD command in SHSUCD. The specific method is to use it together with MSCDEX/SHSUCDX. I loaded an XP system disc image ISO under DOS, and during installation it prompts that it cannot read the information file. There is no problem with the ISO file. Why is this???

It seems that if your computer doesn't have a CDROM connected, some software can't be used. But the same boot disk can load ISO files in virtual pc. Does a cdrom have to be connected?
