Because I am using the "Permanent Chinese Localization Tool for English Software Prompt Messages" for the first time, there are some misunderstandings in some places. In fact, although this software has not been updated for a long time, it is still a tool worthy of collection and use for DOS software localization enthusiasts!
Why do I mention the problem of extracting Chinese characters? First, sometimes when I get a localized work, but I am not satisfied with the localization in some places and want to improve it, I must extract Chinese characters. Of course, I can find the English software to extract again, but it is a bit time-consuming. Second, if I am not satisfied after localizing with this software, and the localized directory is not saved at this time, I have to start localizing from the beginning, which is really worrying!
There is also a dictionary problem. Excel is not sorted by letters, which is not conducive to directly adding content. I sorted it, and the volume suddenly decreased by half, and it couldn't be used. I don't know why? I feel that the dictionary maintenance and addition functions are very weak and not very convenient.
When extracting automatically, for example, when localizing ntfs4dos1.9 version, when extracting English characters, sometimes the last few incomplete characters of a sentence fail to be extracted.
I hope that the character size can be set during automatic extraction. If not, setting it to 3 or 4 is more reasonable. 5 extracts too few characters!
Because I have not used this software for a long time, the above may not be accurate enough. I hope the author will understand!

When initially conceiving the software, the re-modification of localized works was indeed considered, but this idea was rejected during the development process. The reasons are: first, the original intention was to localize English software; second, due to the complexity of Chinese character encoding in the software to be localized, longer code needs to be compiled. Given that the extraction speed was already very slow, it was not worth the cost to exchange an intolerable extraction time for some inappropriate Chinese characters.

Regarding the question "After localizing with this software, if you are not satisfied and the localized directory is not saved, you have to start localizing from the beginning, which is really worrying?", I have put forward the idea of full backup, copying back for modification at any time, and considering the directory allocation problem during the upgrade in the previous post. Please refer to and use it as appropriate!

First of all, it is affirmed that the sorting dictionary can improve the translation speed. Please sort it regularly or irregularly! The reason why problems occur after the dictionary file is sorted is that the first line "ying" and "han" are field names in the database and cannot participate in sorting and must be retained, otherwise the dictionary file cannot be used! As for the problem of volume reduction, it is related to the EXCEL version, but it does not affect the use. For the problem of weak dictionary maintenance and addition functions, please let Administrator Yulu put forward specific requirements so that they can be considered during the upgrade.

When fully automatic extraction is performed, the last few incomplete characters of the sentence fail to be extracted. I don't know what kind of characters they are. Please let Administrator Yulu specify the specific content so that special encoding can be done for special situations.

The problem that the size of the number of characters during automatic extraction can be set will be modified by me according to the idea during the upgrade.

Welcome to use the "Permanent Chinese Localization Tool for English Software Tips"!
Version 2002.2.12 of the software is compatible with Windows 95/98/Nt4/Me/2000/2003/Xp. Since the.hlp help file format is no longer retained in Vista, other functions are still normal except for the help function. Currently, the development of a new version is in progress, which will be compatible with Vista and is optimistic about Windows 7 (because it is compatible with Windows XP).
The software localization is a free software with no functional restrictions.

1. Added the function of respectively establishing file information folders corresponding to English software.

2. Fixed the problem that the minimum number of characters extracted under automatic and semi-automatic states cannot be modified.

3. Fixed the BUG of extracting blank lines, space lines, and lines with leading spaces.

4. Fixed the BUG that the keyboard cannot backspace when selecting parameters.

5. Added a warning function when re-extracting the already localized software to determine whether to overwrite the original information file.

6. Added the function of extracting prompt messages of the already localized software (software that has been localized by other localization tools or software that has been localized by this tool but has lost localization materials).

II. Localization Part

1. Changed the hidden code viewing function and dictionary file browsing function to be explicit. Among them, the code viewing function can browse ASCII or Unicode codes.

2. Corrected the focus setting and display boundary problem of the code viewing interface. The code copying function is canceled.

3. Beautified the interface, and the window can be adjusted arbitrarily.

III. Part of Establishing Localized Software

1. Added the function of prompting the save path of relevant localized files at the end of localization.

2. Added the function of automatically opening the folder where the localized software is located after localization is completed.

IV. Other Parts

1. Added the function of the historical localized file selection interface.

2. Fixed the inconsistent interface color and font display problem.

3. Canceled the invalid link problem of the "About" interface.

4. Optimized some codes to make the functions normal.

5. Added dictionary file entries and corrected part of the word meanings.

6. Rewrote the.HLP help file into a.CHM help file, which can realize online help under Vista.
