I think corresponding sections still need to be added, and then more posts should be made to popularize DOS knowledge, so that everyone can correctly understand DOS, know DOS, and discuss DOS-related topics.

Let me state my own opinion.
DOS is still useful now, but DOS can no longer exist independently.
My consistent view has been that DOS should be treated as a means rather than an end.
The application programs under DOS that I can use are almost all serving Windows.
And batch files themselves, if only under DOS, have very limited applications.
So I think DOS should still be positioned as an aid to other OSes. From this angle, discussing CMD topics is very normal, and it can also be completely separated from batch files.

I agree with Wengier’s point of view. The people who come to the China DOS Union Forum can roughly be divided into three types:
(In the following, ‘dos’ all means pure DOS)

1. Those looking for software resources under DOS. What they care about is whether the DOS software they want is here, or whether they can get guidance here to find what they want.
2. Those hoping to complete tasks with the command line. What they actually want is only for the task to be completed automatically, but because of the innate shortcomings of the DOS command line, there is third-party software and many vbs scripts.
3. Those who ran into problems while using DOS and are looking for solutions. For example, DOS games not running, DOS system installation problems, and so on.

The DOS forum I hope for is like this:
1. It can become a treasury of DOS software. Things that can’t be found elsewhere should all be found here, including DOS games. That would be NB. In addition, I think introductions to some classic software and games should definitely include screenshots.
2. It can serve as an encyclopedia for solving DOS problems. If you get stuck on a DOS problem, you can come here and get it solved.
3. DOS emulators should have dedicated introductions.
4. Batch files are one of DOS’s special features. Though not easy to write, they are easy to learn. Simple, easy to learn, and easy to use has always been Microsoft’s specialty, and undoubtedly also DOS’s specialty. CMD should have a place, but it should not be in the DOS section. As for vbs, I suggest painfully giving it up, because it has so many possible discussion topics that it could have a forum of its own! (This is not alarmist talk. For example: www.visualbasicscript.com. Also, simple and complex are relative. Although vb can be considered “simple” among programming languages, compared with DOS batch files, it should count as quite complex.)

These two points were also raised by me before...

Better squeeze some of the water out of each section first...
I’m speechless about the chatter.
The first 1 to 3 pages are discussion.. the following N pages are all pure water.

It seemed like the server couldn’t be logged into a few days ago..
The DOS area should still discuss pure DOS,,
That way there’ll also be a bit less chatter,,
I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone make off-topic posts up to a professional DOS level

<![CDATA[Recommended to separate MS DOS, CMD, and other DOSes. Also, DOS might as well add some small program modules, since sometimes a short program can solve problems that are rather tricky for batch files:)]]

Vigorously promote the current domain name,
so that more people know about it.

I think cmd can be discussed, but only in a separate section. After all, the main purpose of this forum is still to “develop DOS,” not to “develop CMD.”
But given that there really are quite a few people using CMD now, making such a section can also let everyone distinguish DOS and CMD more clearly.
