linux is big because it comes with lots of bundled software. It itself isn’t that big.
Of course man isn’t there. That help file is huge.

You can put --help after a program and then there’ll be help.

You can try using basiclinux’s browser Links-0.93.
After starting it, press ctrl+z. That text editor pico won’t work, but the others all can.

I think dos is mainly better at file management,
while linux is mainly better at networking.

mandrak isn’t as easy to use as it used to be. I just installed the 1DVD free edition of 2006. The interface feels about on par with FC4, but management is not very convenient. For example, I installed a JRE rpm, but the package manager under KDE couldn’t see it at all; it could only see the packages that came with the system.
