Basically, DOS is a very useful tool, especially in restoring and backing up systems. So the boot disk should be as streamlined as possible, so that there is enough memory left to run programs like Ghost C or PQDI. This is a little personal opinion... I also started with DOS 2.11. Many low-level format disk programs in the past can't be used now, like fformat, which can format to 1.72 and can boot, and can run on any system without loading drivers. What a pity...
