Modifying the BIOS by兄GOTOmsdos is too dangerous. It's better to buy an Ultra ATA/133 PCI and other hard disk adapter cards to run UltraDMA 6, which is more enjoyable. Fortunately, the CMOS can be discharged and still boot... I used to test the汉化Award flash program and it was even worse. It blacked out many times and discharging didn't work. I had to find the same chipset motherboard to hot-swap and flash back until the BIOS chip pins were about to break, so I didn't dare to plug and unplug anymore and became docile

Modify the original BIOS with the Russian BP4.51. As long as the hardware supports it, flashing the modified BIOS will enable support.

My 440BX (a 1998 board) was flashed with the modified BIOS of BP4.51. Now I am using a 120G hard...

Did your 440BX motherboard, before modification, use INTEL's 48lbachk.exe to test if it supports 48-bit addressing?

What is the maximum hard drive size it can now support after modification?

It is completely possible. There is a software called bios patcher in Hengchuang DOS.

Download Hengchuang DOS

Why is there "HD-KILL" in it after I downloaded it?
This is harmful!

After modification, testing with Intel's 48lbachk.exe still does not support 48-bit addressing.

Before modification, it did not support 40G, but after modification, it can support the current 120G hard drive, but cannot pass the 137G threshold.

The 48lbachk.exe test, if it supports 48-bit addressing, handling 137GB is no problem.
