I think it doesn't seem to be that PQ doesn't support EMM386, but rather that EMM386 doesn't support EMS memory larger than 30MB. When I used EMM386 to make this disk, starting PQ showed the following prompt:

emm386 is running. Available memory is limited to 30MB
(emm386 is running, available memory is limited to 30 MB)

I wonder if I'm understanding it correctly. Could moderator Wengier give me some guidance?

That's not what it means. Rather, it means that because EMM386 is running, PQ can only use memory within 30M. In other words, it's not that PQ doesn't support EMM386, but that because EMM386 has already been loaded, PQ cannot use more than 30M of XMS memory (note: not EMS memory).

Yes, when I use the MS-DOS 7.10 boot disk I made, no matter which option I choose at startup, I can run PQ after booting to the DOS command line.

The biggest problem with the WINME boot disk is that it can't format a system disk, even if I replace it with DOS71's FORMAT and SYS

Then you might as well make an MS-DOS 7.10 boot disk, because it's more practical and has better compatibility. And now its size is about the same as DOS8's kernel files.

The problem in post #10 actually is not insufficient EMS memory. It's that because EMM386 is loaded, PQ is saying that XMS can be used only up to 32MB, right? That's not an error message, just an informational message.
