First, thanks to the moderator. Do you mean that cloaking -usevcpi makes the CPU enter protected mode as soon as it stays resident in memory, or does it only make the CPU enter protected mode when an application uses the DPMS interface? How can I tell, or what software can show whether the CPU is in protected mode? Please answer question 1 in the above post. Also, how can I change escape's hotkey? Under pure DOS, with mousclip, how can I paste characters copied at the prompt into EDIT, or vice versa?

CLOAKING 2.01 includes a DPMS server, so it automatically makes the CPU enter protected mode. Many programs can run only in real mode, so as soon as you run them you can tell whether the CPU is in protected mode: for example CUP386 /7 NUL
VIDE-CDD loads all IDE CD-ROM drives at one time; if no device name is specified, it automatically uses VIDE-CD$.
To change ESCAPE's Hotkey, you have to modify the ESCAPE.EXE program itself. For example, if you want to change the Hotkey to F11, then change the D8 at offset 00CBH in ESCAPE.EXE to D7 (note: D7 is the keyboard scan code for the F11 key).
To make MouseClip and EDIT coexist peacefully, you only need to disable EDIT's mouse function. Unfortunately, EDIT has no such option.

ASPICD.SYS itself is an ASPI driver. And some programs such as ASPI2DOS.SYS and the like correspond to specific chipsets, so they are of no use in a general MS-DOS 7.10 boot disk.

So that means if I happen to run into one of those specific chipsets, I still don't need drivers such as ASPI2DOS.SYS, and only ASPICD.SYS is enough to drive a SCSI CD-ROM, right?

Sorry, I didn't see it (because there are too many posts, so it's impossible to read every single one). As for specific chipsets, I haven't tried them either (I myself don't have a single SCSI/ASPI device), but I think USBCD.SYS (ASPICD.SYS is a bit worse) is quite good and can drive the vast majority of SCSI/USB CD-ROM drives.
