I just tried displaying Chinese in SDIR under CCDOS97, and everything was normal, including Chinese long filenames. Maybe UCDOS doesn't work.

Lately I've been studying NTLDR colors, so I'm bumping this ancient old thread!

A few more questions for everyone:
1. It seems a lot of boot disks don't device that ansi.sys?
2. What version is systen32\ansi.sys in XP?
3. How do you input the escape character? I messed around with it for half a day and found that pressing Ctrl+[ or Alt+27 works the same as Esc: it clears the line currently being entered.
4. How do you set config.nt under XP so that cmd can support ansi.sys?

1. Wengier's super boot disk should have an ANSI.COM. It can be loaded in both CONFIG.SYS and the command line, and its size has been reduced to 4K. I haven't tried it, but I guess the basic functions should be complete.

2. ANSI.SYS does not have an independent version number. The differences between versions under several systems are not very great. In addition, they all support six switch parameters: /X /K /R /L /S /SCREENSIZE, of which the last three are not seen in the official documentation.
