About the GBK issue, I'd like to say a few words. DOSLFN can support GBK. The method is to use the included MK_TABLE program to compile the CP936.TXT file into a CP936UNI.TBL file with GBK support, and use it to replace the original CP936UNI.TBL file. However, there are two problems. First, this makes DOSLFN use quite a lot of memory when loaded, as much as 59-64K; second, DOS Chinese character support systems basically do not support GBK, only GB2312, so doing this is not very useful. The last two lines in DOSLFN's TBL.TXT file are:

GBK seems to be not used in DOS, it's for Windows.
At least the screen redirector "TechWay SCS V3.2" does only support GB2312.

It means:
“GBK seems not to be used under DOS, but for Windows. At least TechWay Chinese character support system version 3.2 only supports GB2312 (and not GBK).” (Note: TechWay Chinese character support system version 3.2 was sent by me to the author of DOSLFN so that he could write and test DOSLFN's support for Chinese long filenames.)

Why does running doslfn /(anything) cause a reboot???

Mr. moderator, DOSLFN really can now fully support Chinese long filenames, but it is not stable. After unloading it from memory, when entering it again it very easily hangs, and this hang is different from an ordinary hang; for example, the keyboard cannot input characters, but the Num Lock key can still be toggled.

Although GBK is for Windows, some people like to use Chinese filenames, so under Dos
you still run into some GBK filenames or directory names sometimes. If that happens, then under dos
you won't be able to use Arj to pack the files.
Also, do you have a cracked version of Arj 2.81? The Arj 2.81 I downloaded has no crack to be found; at the moment I have only found
a crack for version 2.60. If you have a crack for 2.81, please send me one.

As for CP936UNI.TBL with GBK support, it is very easy to generate: first use Borland C or Turbo C to compile MK_TABLE.C into MK_TABLE.EXE, then use MK_TABLE without parameters to compile CP936.TXT into a CP936UNI.TBL file with GBK support (note: if any parameters are added, MK_TABLE will compile CP936.TXT into GB2312 format). I tested it. Yesterday I had wanted to upload the CP936UNI.TBL file with GBK support to the forum, but the upload failed.

As for DOSLFN possibly hanging, do you mean DOSLFN version 0.32l or 0.32m? I haven't found DOSLFN 0.32m to hang. Also, there is actually no need to unload DOSLFN; you can just use the DOSLFN /D command to disable DOSLFN at any time, and then use DOSLFN or DOSLFN /E to enable it again.

I'm using the DOSLFN V0.32m I just downloaded, and it hangs very easily. For example, after starting DOSLFN, if I then run DOSLFN/？
it definitely dies.

Really? I tried many times: first DOSLFN, then DOSLFN/U, then DOSLFN, then DOSLFN/U, then DOSLFN/?，then DOSLFN/U, then DOSLFN, then DOSLFN/?，then DOSLFN/U, and it still didn't hang.

As soon as I do DOSLFN /? it reboots

imp: if it is the old DOSLFN version 0.32l, then DOSLFN/? really will reboot, but the latest 0.32m definitely will not.

The latest 0.32m has already added the CP936UNI.GBK file supporting the GBK character set.

That's right, I was the one who asked its author by email to add the CP936UNI.GBK file, to make it more convenient for all of us to use. The original GB2312 CP936UNI.TBL is still kept as well.

Does Wengier have Norton Commander 5.5?
