The following is a quote from Dennis on 2003-11-22 11:58:20:
Thanks for Wengier's reply. I'm using the startup disk of winxp, and the first disk of MSDOS can't boot. Looking forward to your guidance!

Please use a DOS startup disk! There is no pure DOS in WinXP, and it is impossible to install DOS at all. Also, is the first disk of the MS-DOS 7.10 installation disk really unable to boot? I have tried many times but it can boot.

May I ask what prompt information and what phenomenon occurred? I have tried many times in different environments here but it can boot all the time.

Is the Super Universal MS-DOS 7.10 Boot Disk (http://newdos.yginfo.net/dosware/mdos71bd.zip) updated synchronously with this MS-DOS 7.10 Complete Installation Version (including the graphical installation program)?

They are two different things, and the contents are quite different, so there is no question of synchronous updating, and they have never been updated synchronously.

NTFS doesn't work. It can only be installed as FAT32.

Can it boot in NTFS format? Then you can make a Ghost for XP under NTFS format.

Hello站长 Wengier:

I often come to this forum to play, but I just registered a name recently when I wanted to post.

I have a question. I know I'm very green, but I still want to ask.

The CD installation version file dos71cd.zip I downloaded gets a dos71cd.iso. Then decompressing this iso file again gets a setup.bat and some folders and several files.

I haven't studied DOS, so I don't know how to use these things.

Open this setup.bat with Notepad and take a look at the content inside. It's a bit like English. The general meaning I read is:

If both the files boot\fakedisk.com and boot\dos71ins.img exist, then run these two files one after another.

Then the subsequent meaning seems to be:

If a:\setup.bat and a:\setup.inf do not exist, then display an error message.

If they exist, then run setup.bat.

So I don't understand how the CD is burned.

I remember that the last time I burned a disc, I burned a bootable CD, and I burned it together with the WinME boot floppy.

Then after booting with the CD, are the files under a:\ all the files after decompressing the WinME boot floppy? Then how can there be a setup.bat under a:~~

Also: If I directly burn the decompressed files and folders in the root directory of the CD, can I directly boot the computer?

Can you tell me the principle among them or the burning process~~~ (a little more detailed, I'm not very familiar with these)

eve: This ISO file of the CD version is a CD image file, so you can directly burn it to a CD using burning software like Nero. Be sure not to "directly burn the unzipped files and folders to the root directory of the CD" because it won't be able to boot the system. As for that SETUP.BAT file, just ignore it because it's just a dispensable auxiliary file.
