This is the real MINI-PWIN98SE (98 Second Edition). Compared with the MINI98 made earlier, it really does have performance improvements. The CD-ROM drive and drive A: can also be accessed normally now, but unfortunately it uses too much memory. With less than 64M of memory it may be able to boot, but running programs could be a bit tight, so I'm giving a reminder here.

May I ask, is the DAZIPZ.exe file you generated with arj compression using the command:

arj a -je -r DAZIPZ.exe x:\*.*

But when I use this command, it doesn't work. When running 98 from the CD, Chinese is not displayed and the operation is not successful. I am using ARJ version 281a.

May I ask how to use the ARJ command when generating the DAZIPZ.exe file? Please give me some guidance.

I still can't make it work like this. After running on 98, the Chinese parts show garbled code:

arj a -je -r -h$ DAZIPZ.exe x:\*.*

Note:
-je : Make into EXE
-r: Compress the folder with files in subdirectories
-h$: Support long filenames

Does mld truly implement mini98 in the virtual cache?

First, create a 64MB virtual one, use decompression or directly copy to this virtual hard disk, then run win.com to enter the system?

In this way, the CD-ROM restriction can be bypassed, and CDs can be changed.

Moreover, user's own network card or ADSL or graphics card drivers and so on can be installed! As long as there is no restart, mini98 is still on this hard disk, and it can be read and written but cannot be saved permanently?

I have tried your mini98, and it cannot run when restored to the actual hard disk? I don't know how to get a 30MB or 40MB mini98 system by myself! mld can you try it, is this theory feasible?

I want to modify the dazipz.exe file and delete the WINIMG software inside, but it just doesn't work.

This is what I did: I extracted the dazipz.exe file, deleted the WINIMG software in PROGRAM FILES, and didn't touch anything else.
Then I used ARJ to compress:
\arj a -je -r -h$ \DAZIPZ.exe x:\*.*
X:\*.* is the modified folder.

I made it into an ISO file with WINISO, and it can start normally, but Chinese can't be displayed.

1. If you downloaded Pmini98se.rar in this thread, it seems that the WINIMG software is not installed in Program Files.
2. dazip.exe is made with ARJ2.81a. The command line I used is: C:\ARJ a -r -a dazip z:\*.* -je
3. After the PMINI98SE starts up completely, you can change the CD. Strictly speaking, you don't need the CD after the decompression is completed.
4. Whether "the truly practical mini98" is depends on each person's needs. You think it's "truly practical" but others don't.
5. Directly restoring this mini98 system to the hard disk won't work. You must modify the registry.
