If you burn all the files in "Super Universal MS-DOS 7.10 Boot Disk" by the webmaster of "New DOS Era" -- Wengier to a CD, will this CD be able to boot to the DOS system in the CD when the system restarts?

If yes, then adding Ghost v11.5 and the.gho and.ghs files made with Ghost v11.5 to the CD will it become a system recovery disk?

In the boot process, does autoexec.bat need to be executed first? Adding the code to execute Ghost in autoexec.bat will Ghost run immediately as soon as the system starts?

Also, if you want to make a personalized boot disk, will adding echo XXXX in autoexec.bat be able to display it? Thanks

Hehe, 1. "If you burn all the files in the 'Super Universal MS-DOS 7.10 Boot Disk' by the webmaster -- Wengier onto a CD, will this CD be able to boot to the DOS system on the CD when the system restarts? " — No! But it is feasible to load the floppy disk image of the 'Super Universal MS-DOS 7.10 Boot Disk' as the boot file of the CD.
2. Because the answer to question 1 is negative, so I won't say the answer to 2.
3. "During startup, does autoexec.bat need to be executed first? If you add the code to execute ghost in autoexec.bat, will ghost run immediately as soon as the system starts? " — Yes!
4. "Also, if you want to make a personalized boot disk, can you just add echo XXXX in autoexec.bat to make it display? " — Yes!

bc12060101: Hello, thank you for your answer. You said "But using the floppy disk image of the 'Super Universal MS-DOS 7.10 Boot Disk' as the boot file of the CD is feasible". How exactly to do this? I have the file of this "Super Universal MS-DOS 7.10 Boot Disk" from the "New DOS Era" webmaster -- Wengier. Specifically, how should I operate? Thanks.

Hehe, with the file of "Super Universal MS-DOS 7.10 Boot Disk", the specific operations are as follows:

The first method: Use a CD image editing tool (UltraISO, winiso, etc.) to create a new CD image. In the "Boot" menu in the program window, select "Load Boot File...", find the file (img or ima format) of your "Super Universal MS-DOS 7.10 Boot Disk" and load it. In the program window, you will see that the original prompt of "Non-bootable CD" has changed to "Bootable CD", and finally, save the CD image. Of course, if you want to make it into a CD, you also need to burn the CD image to a CD.

The second method: Use the Nero burning software, select to burn a boot CD, and follow the prompts to operate.

If you just want a Super Universal MS-DOS 7.10 boot CD, the second method is enough. If you want to play with the boot disk, it is recommended to learn the first method.

bc12060101: Thank you very much! There is still something I need to ask you for advice on, and I sincerely request you to be generous with your teachings:
1. I want to add the ghost (version v11.5) software and the already backed up GHO file to the system recovery disc made with easyboot (I plan to burn it with a DVD disc), which is the kind with a boot menu: The menu settings are specifically as follows:
(1) Backup system (that is, once this option is selected, the disc will automatically call the ghost software in the disc to automatically back up the C drive)
(2) Restore system (that is, once this option is selected, the ghost software in the disc will automatically be called to automatically restore the C drive, assuming that the GHO file has been burned into the disc)
(3) Boot from hard disk
(4) Restart ---------(3) and (4) I have figured out, please tell me how to implement 1 and 2? Can you be more detailed? Thank you! I have read many articles by myself and have done N experiments (after doing it, I tested it with VMWare WorkStation V6.0.2), but all failed. The startup screen did come out, but when I selected 1 or 2, it just didn't execute. Either there was a flashing cursor in the upper left corner of the black screen or it told me "bad command or file name" at the command prompt. I'm almost going crazy!!! If you can help me solve this problem, I will definitely thank you very much. Please! If you are in Beijing, I will definitely visit you in person!

The production software I use is Easyboot, Winimage, Vmware (used for testing), Nero, and there is also an IMG file of "Super Universal MS-DOS 7.10"

If other experts can give advice on this problem, I am also very grateful!!! If you are in Beijing, I will definitely visit you in person!!! Thank you very much! Keep my word, act accordingly!

There is another question. After I downloaded and extracted the ghost_V11.5 version, there is ghost32.exe inside. The instructions say this program runs in a win32 environment, and the instructions for ghost.exe say this program runs in a DOS environment. I just used ghost32.exe in Windows XP to backup a gho, but this gho is larger than 2G. And in DOS (booted from a CD), I can't start ghost at all. When I type ghost.exe at the command prompt, there is no response, and it tells me "bad command or file name". And I heard that in DOS, the backup with ghost is generally two or more files. The first one is GHO, and the ones after the second are GHS. Then, what's the difference between the GHO generated by these two different programs in two different environments and the GHO + GHS? Is the effect the same? Thanks!!! Oh right, all my hard disk partitions are NTFS.

Where should I put ghost.exe? In the img or on the CD?
If it's on the CD, you need to load the CD drive driver.
Moreover, without loading the driver, even if ghost can run, it can't find the gho file on the CD.

Thanks to lianjiang2004, Gold Member: ghost.exe cannot be placed in the img. I have tried it. The volume of the ghost V11.5 version is 2.2M, which definitely cannot fit. I placed it in the root directory of the CD. Made the img of Super DOS 710 as the boot file of the CD. The system boots to the DOS 7.1 platform and can execute ghost.exe to back up and restore the system.

Seeing you play so hard (I myself read many articles and did N experiments), please leave your QQ.
Or you go to the hometown of lianjiang2004, that gentleman is really an artist in playing ghost.

1. Generally, in the boot menu of a common boot disk, there is an option to load the CD-ROM. If not, you need to add it yourself.
2. It is best if the ghost is built-in in the img. You can solve it by using a non-standard img, that is, expanding the capacity of the img.
3. For those just getting started, it is indeed a bit difficult. Looking at how similar boot disks handle it more is the best way.

However, since you can already run Ghost on the CD, it means that the CD drive has been successfully loaded. There is no need to consider driver issues anymore.
