As the title says, is there a program for operating the hard disk HPA area by any expert? The systems of brand computers like Lenovo are all backed up in the HPA area of the hard disk, which is very safe, basically not afraid of being damaged. Does anyone have such programs and experiences in this regard? Hope to be given unsparing instructions.

Go to Wuyou Forum to find the post about Lao Maotao. There is a template for deploying HPA. It can be used directly. It is said that HPA has poor compatibility and high risk. It is not as easy to use as modifying the ID to 12.

May I ask the person above, does operating HPA necessarily erase the data on the hard disk, and how dangerous is it? What does the ID 12 mean?

Can you pass it on? I can't find the post about Lao Mao Tao.

1. id12 is a type of hidden partition that is currently used more frequently and has higher security than ordinary hidden partitions.
2. Before using hpa, it is recommended to check more materials and roughly figure out what is going on before using it.
3. The way has been shown, so don't be too lazy. I don't use hpa, so naturally there is no template to upload.
People generally dislike lazy people, heh heh.

The advantage of HPA is that it acts directly on the hard disk, so the data in HPA is not afraid of being damaged by DM, GHOST or even the low-level format provided by the motherboard (even I/O instructions cannot damage it before unlocking). For non-encrypted HPA, multiple HPAs are also supported, that is, after creating an HPA, multiple HPAs can still be created on the remaining hard disk capacity, and the number of layers depends on the hard disk.

The disadvantage of HPA is that it requires the support of the hard disk (not all current mainstream hard disks support HPA), and additional steps of locking and unlocking are required.

The functions of hidden partitions such as EISA to protect data are very limited and cannot withstand the tossing of partition software, full-disk cloning, and low-level format software.

It seems that mhdd can directly delete the hpa partition. The so - called safety is all relative. Which specific method to adopt depends on each person's needs and preferences.

Thanks everyone, I have found the relevant information. Also: MHDD can indeed delete the HPA partition. I can only get rid of it right now, but can't master it.

Even MHDD cannot delete the HPA protected by a password. If it is very critical, you can use the HPA protected by a fake (typo, should be "added") password.

Fake password?! What does that mean? I tried the HPA template from Lao MaoTao several times yesterday. I erased all the things on the disk, and it didn't make it. According to the prompt, it seemed very correct, and no error was reported. It said to power off, and when I powered on again, the screen just showed "Loading...", and it didn't move for a long time. Then I used the USB flash drive to boot into the DOS system, opened SPFDISK, deleted the last partition (said to be the HPA partition), created it into a normal FAT32 format logical drive, rewrote the master boot record with FDISK /MBR, restarted, and the computer could boot normally, looking normal, but the HPA area was not established. My hard drive is supported by HPA as seen with MHDD. Does this "Tsinghua Tongfang's HPA tool" establish the HPA area before restart or after restart?
I personally think it should be established before restart, but the result was not established. That area was very easy to delete, obviously not the HPA area, and the computer froze after booting again. Is this the compatibility problem of this software?

Is "hpa" a hidden partition?

This HPA, how can it be so easy! Otherwise, why would manufacturers spend so much effort.

Actually, it's not that difficult. As long as the operation is proper, it won't damage all the data on the hard drive, but just the data of a partition used for testing. In this regard, Wuyou has done a lot of research!
