Among the many operating systems, I have a special fondness for DOS. I’ve always had a wish: to make a complete DOS system CD. Using an 8cm CD-R disc as the medium. Capacity 225MB. I think that should be quite sufficient, relative to DOS’s “simple, clean, clear, fast”
nature. I think it should achieve the following functions:
1. High compatibility.
2. Powerful file management functions
3. An intuitive graphical interface
4. Multitasking management
5. Graphics and multimedia functions
6. Broad network support
7. Large memory management
8. Plug-and-play hardware support
9. Complete PC maintenance functions
10. Excellent Chinese support
11. Virtual device support
That’s all I can think of for now. I hope everyone can add to it and help improve it. Please actively join the technical discussion... Please reply below...

Is using an 8cm CD okay?? I think using a 12cm one would be safer, because I’ve run into cases where the CD-ROM drive couldn’t read 8cm discs!!

I’m not an expert
but I did go through the DOS era
that period is really unforgettable
I’ve always been optimizing boot disks
of course they’re DOS ones
Right now I’m using one on a mini CD
inside it are not only tools under DOS
there are also some tools for use under WINDOWS
it’s just still not mature enough
Moderator, please take a look and give me a little advice

Also, what version of DOS is better to use now?

There are a lot of Win software in there... they can’t be used under DOS... it’s not a pure DOS disc...

Actually I’m thinking, if right from the start we want as many functions as Master Rushi said,
isn’t that making things too hard for the maker!
I’m thinking, could it be like 3.5-inch disks,
make some with only a single function first,
but a bit more targeted.
That would make things simpler!
You have to know,
I’ve been making bootable CD boot disks for quite a while too,
but
I’ve only managed to make a not-yet-perfect all-Chinese multimedia boot disk.
If it really has to be like what Master Rushi said,
then it might as well just be a CD version of win98 directly!

Do you have a “CD version of win98”???
Did you make it?
Could you give an ISO or the method for making it? I’ve tried several times and wasn’t too successful.

The main issue is the registry and the temporary files used when going online! Actually this CD 98 is a bit like a diskless workstation!
I heard an expert made one! But it was 95, and only in safe mode! What he proposed was this: install 98 on C first and set everything up!
Put all files that can be swapped onto D: then it’ll work! For the specific post, everyone can go look at 51 and Dandiao!
