China DOS Union

Some users previously mentioned burning CDs with materials on them, for the forum and for development of new DOS programs..
So. What would everyone like to have on the forum's CD?
I hope everyone will actively put forward their own ideas..

I have an idea: when our DOS Union reaches its first anniversary, we should put out a DOS Union first anniversary commemorative CD. (Of course, this CD should also be the best boot CD.) Its contents should include the following:
1. DOS Union chronology
2. Selected excellent DOS articles
3. DOS software
4. DOS Union works
Since DOS software itself is relatively small, we should collect the latest versions of software from every category. It ought to be a complete collection.
If the moderators approve of my suggestion, then we need to start preparing now. Then we can begin dividing up the work. Let me propose a rough division of labor:
1. Overall CD structure planning
2. Interface design
3. Selected and edited DOS articles
4. DOS software collection
5. DOS website construction
6. Writing the DOS chronology
If anyone has any ideas, you can bring them up too. If we all agree, then we'll start carrying it out. Among the above items, because of network issues, I can basically do all of them except collecting DOS software. At the same time, since Ru Shi and I live fairly close to each other, we can be responsible for making the CD. As for how popular the CD will be, that will depend on the influence of the DOS Union.

That depends on how the moderators respond today. If we want a good piece of work, after all, it isn't something one person or just a few people can complete. The problem now is that there has to be real action. Actually, making a CD is also a way of promoting ourselves. If the moderators all agree, we can hold a meeting for detailed discussion. First discuss the CD planning and concept, then the specific division of labor. After dividing the work, we should set phase tasks and deadlines, and when the time comes hold another meeting. Everyone can announce their progress, then we can discuss further revisions and formulate the next step of the plan.
If everyone's response isn't enthusiastic, then just pretend I never said anything.

Distribution is too much to talk about for now; first we'd just burn them for members, right? However many are needed, we'll burn that many. I estimate the cost won't be too much. Of course we should charge an appropriate cost fee. No need to go commercial, but there should be a small amount of income, and then use that as development funds for the DOS Union. At the very least, we'd have enough money to move the website and forum into commercial hosting for stability, speed, and convenience. If the CD becomes influential, naturally pirates will come knocking too.

Why not give me a CD burner?? Doesn't need to be too good, 20X is enough, thanks thanks ^_^

yiyesong, you're right. If we want the China DOS Union to develop well and rapidly, we must pay the price in two aspects, namely support in manpower and financial resources. Only in this way can the China DOS Union have a brilliant tomorrow!
