All the non-technical, everyday-life stuff is put into this one section, so it feels far too messy.

People often say, "make friends through martial arts." "Martial" here means a kind of skill. A forum bringing together enthusiasts from everywhere through DOS technology really is something exciting.

But if after gathering together we talk about nothing except technology, then I believe only somewhat older people, or those with an extreme obsession with technology, would come by.

After all, most people who come to forums are young people. Besides technology, there are still many things young people can talk about with each other.

Also, although the forum is almost entirely male, there is no shortage of talented people with elegant writing. I think they should be given some room to show what they can do.

In short, I hope that before long, this forum can become one of the best among large forums that "take technology as the main focus while striving for a hundred schools of thought to contend."

This place shouldn't have been discussing military or politics in the first place. I'm not interested in that, and I'm against it. The more sections there are, the more troublesome it gets!

Many thanks to Li Xiaolong for the suggestion and support!

Actually splitting the leisure area into two sections is a good idea. I support it, and thanks for bringing it up.

What Red Fantasy said isn't wrong either. Leisure and entertainment should have nothing to do with politics or the military and the like, so it's best not to post that kind of thread.

+ A large public forum definitely has to "seek common ground while reserving differences".

+ If any forum wants to develop, it is bound to expand its user base in a targeted way.

+ As far as DOS content goes, the forum has already done everything that could reasonably be expected. I think just about everyone who ought to come has already come. Those who came and then left probably first wanted to ask a few questions, then hung around a bit, saw there really wasn't anywhere for them to chime in, and left. Those who haven't come probably already have it figured out in their heads: it'll still be fine to come later when my machine breaks down.

Actually, both of the latter two types are at first pleasantly surprised to some extent that a forum like this can still be found nowadays. But after looking around, they discover this forum is just too specialized. It talks about almost nothing except DOS. So they'd better bookmark it first and come visit again someday, far in the future, when their machine breaks down.

This is actually the most fundamental reason why there have never been any female members all along. Because nobody is providing them with a space to speak!!!!

+ Nobody is a robot born for some one thing. Besides technology, there are many other things young people can talk about. These include literature, music, and everything related to real society.

To sum up, it is obvious that "Leisure & Entertainment / Chatting & Chatter," as the only section where technology doesn't have to be discussed, is still far from enough. So new sections should be added.

Doesn't leisure, entertainment, chatting, and chatter already include everything? Isn't that room for expression already big enough?

Yeah... what colleague Li Xiaolong said is very true...

What Li Xiaolong said makes a lot of sense. I completely agree with his opinion. Right, if a forum talks purely about one single technology, it is very monotonous. Then only people like us who have a special liking for DOS, or people coming for help with system problems, would visit. If some other topics are added, then people will come for those topics, and in that way people who don't know DOS or understand it will come to understand it. After all, most people nowadays don't even know what DOS is. The Internet is widespread now, but more people go online only caring about the topics they care about. We can use this method to borrow a chicken to lay eggs.
WENGIER can think it over. As for moderators for the new sections, naturally there will be interested people willing to do it.

Hmm, if we think from the point of view of making the forum more popular, then what Li Xiaolong said is quite right, but if we split off too many sections unrelated to DOS, would that go against the forum name "China DOS Union"??

I'll go split it into two sections then. How about "Chatting & Chatter Area" and "Leisure & Entertainment Area"?

I think it should be changed to "Original Web Writing Area" and "Leisure & Entertainment Area." Chatting/chatter and leisure/entertainment are actually the same thing. And Original Web Writing is to accommodate some friends who enjoy literature, letting them tell their online stories or post literary works. As for all the other messy stuff, don't bother with it. That way the whole forum will look much more cultured.
DD: It won't go against our forum's theme. Because the emphasis is different, and besides, there are very few sections for other things.

Hmm, that makes sense, but when dividing them up the rules need to be made a bit clearer. Don't let there be another thing like that VC_COM incident last time.

Support.

As for the moderator of the literature section, I recommend Master Rushi. This brother writes pretty well, and has quite a bit of personality.

It would be best to open a current affairs section too. After all, we're all young people. Besides, this isn't an era where state affairs must not be discussed.

Hehe, that's too much praise... moderator yiyesong is more suitable, and besides, there are experts everywhere here...

Starting new ones is fine, but don't start too many. We are a dos union, don't make it too mixed up, with everything under the sun, neither fish nor fowl.

If that happens, it will lower the forum's value, like some sort of hodgepodge.

Then there won't be any cohesion.
