My favorite DOS shell (something to replace command.com) ---- 4dos (with many advantages)
First, take a look at readme.txt in 4dos.rar: { Add the following statements in the config.sys file: shell=C:\4DOS\4DOS.COM @C:\4DOS\4DOS.INI /P Add the following statements in the autoexec.bat file: SET COMSPEC=C:\4DOS\4DOS.COM @C:\4DOS\4DOS.INI /P Pay attention to the 4dos path }Open the attachment |

I think NDOS is better than 4DOS, it occupies less memory and has similar functions.

NDOS does not support long filenames and is relatively old, so it is not very practical.
When 4DOS is used as a SHELL, sometimes COPY and other commands fail. Also, if there are many folders on the hard disk, the TREE command of 4DOS may sometimes crash. Moreover, when all TSR programs are loaded into UMB memory, 4DOS will automatically become the main SHELL regardless of whether COMMAND has been loaded or not, resulting in being unable to exit 4DOS. |

High memory, extended memory, and expanded memory are all types of memory. When using 4dos, if you don't load HIMEM, a lot more will be used.
