I've been playing with computers for 18 years, and I've probably installed no fewer than 50 versions of Windows. Starting from 3.11 to Vista, I've gone through DOS, Windows 3.1, 3.2 to Windows 95, 98, then various versions of Windows 2000, then XP, then Windows Server 2003, and finally the newly launched Windows Vista this year. Oh, that's quite a lot. Looking back on these systems, it's quite interesting too : )
Every time Windows releases a new version, I install it immediately, even the lousy Windows Me. This shows my love for Microsoft. However, love deeply means criticize severely. I often complain about the lack of stability and security in Windows and have published some related articles. But I never and dare not talk to Microsoft about it. Hehe, because "I'm proud, I use pirated software" is my principle in IT and the fun of using computers. For computer users, DIY is the way to go. If there's a problem, figure it out yourself. That's the real computer person! — That's the first point! Ten years ago, there was no need to ask what Windows system to install. Just take it and install it, then use it. But now it's different. First, you have to look at your hardware conditions, then choose in terms of security, etc. It's not just about installing. So various installation methods have emerged. Automatic installation isn't enough, cloning came along, it's fast and convenient, and even the software is all installed. It made Microsoft afraid, so they launched the Vista packaging method to "entice" the Ghost user group. It's really like the scene of the Great Leap Forward in 1957. It just fits a saying: just install systems when you have nothing to do, anyway, you're idle! — That's the second point! To be honest, the choice of system is really important. Take the currently best-used operating system Windows XP for example. I've used the Shanghai Municipal Government version, MSDN original version, Tomato Garden version, Genuine version, Liang version, Deepin slim version, and now I'm using Soul condensed version or Beibei minimal Chinese version. Don't even mention the Ghost ones, it's too long, take a break, hehe. Now my BitComet is still "abnormally" downloading Platinum Garden V6.0... Actually, after using too many systems, you get tired of them. They're all more or less the same, they're all Microsoft's products. Add a bit or subtract a bit, can it make your computer faster by 0.1%? Seeing the resource usage rate PF value is 80 or below can make you excited for a few days. Accidentally, a rogue comes, and after being raped by it, aren't you just starting over and installing again? So, still that drunk saying: I still want to install, install, install... — That's the third point! Some students still like to ask me: "Zen, why do you always install systems?" Oh, these students really should be slapped. Not installing systems doesn't mean Zen isn't hitting the bell. This is my job : ) Some students are more alert and ask: "Monk, your system is very small. What did you do to it?" Slap him in the face. When did Zen become so sinister? It's just BT downloading some slim version and then manually deleting and optimizing the entire system. Many tools can achieve such effects. Kids don't learn this. Look at the forum and read books first. Ye Maozi once said: "Good students, look down every day!"嘛; The smartest student asks: "Lao Zhao, why are there so many systems in your laptop, there's XP, 2003, Vista, and Linux oh!?" Such a student won't pass the exam. Why? Flattering me? The most deadly thing is exposing my shortcoming like this. How can I have the face to teach anymore? I install so many systems because I don't know how to use them! The capable do more work. To put it bluntly, it's just a word of tiredness! — That's the fourth point! In fact, many times for those of us in IT, the thing we like most and hate most is installing systems, the most lingering and hateful thing is debugging systems, the most boring and proud thing is applying systems. As a teacher, there's one more thing: I hate and love those little baby-like high school students asking extremely profound topics: "What should I do if the computer freezes?" I never think that the hat of the most glorious under the sun, the teacher, will cover me. But people have to learn to accept reality, just like accepting liking to install systems. To get back to the point, a system is a system (nonsense, but nonsense is usually the truth). So, system engineering needs many people or things to complete. To make the system work normally, many tools should be prepared. For example, a system maintenance tool should be in everyone's hand, essential for home and travel! Windows system isn't actually fragile. It's just that the Anti-Corruption Bureau has higher requirements. Microsoft doesn't dare to secretly make a Windows with both software and hardware combination. It's better to make it as ROM to sell, which has given rise to the situation of various software blooming in the world. Therefore, what I finally want to say is that those who play with systems must think more about common software. Those who are proficient won't be confused. And there's no need to learn Liu Xiahui. Wei Xiaobao who married seven wives should be able to stay calm in the face of temptation, isn't that right? — That's the fifth point! Just rambled about these system-related things. No other reason, just having nothing to do. Call me if you have something to eat. I'll help you install the system. Now I'm going to my courtyard (http://www.warmrose.com) to recite scriptures. 88 [ Last edited by 禅宗 on 2007-1-7 at 11:39 AM ] |

It's quite interesting to write. I'm very lazy. I usually don't reinstall the system for half a year.

Haha, using restore, when viruses and rogues come, there's ****, heh heh, can't get in!! It's just a bit troublesome if you want to **, but fortunately it's the latest high-tech. As long as it's not a disk related to the system, just click and it's OK!!

More than fifty Windows versions? Is that a bit exaggerated?

I've used it for 5 years. The registry is 20 - 30+ MB. Don't reinstall. Don't reinstall. Don't reinstall

『Building 2』:
Hehe, I used to like installing new systems to play with, but now I don't have that mood. As I grow older, it's true that I don't have that interest anymore. |

Actually, I quite like the ME version, but it seems many people think ME is very bad. At least in my usage, ME is better than 98.

In the past, I only installed these two systems: 98 and XP, so the installation interface was almost something I could control with my eyes closed. But now it's out of control, with MS-DOS, Win95, Win2000, WinME... N systems installed one after another. What's the reason? Because of VPC.
