The notebook is a bare machine, with no system, no optical drive, and no floppy drive. How to install the XP system? The notebook only supports USB FDD, so only a USB boot disk can be made. But how to copy the I38 directory from the Windows installation disk to the notebook? The mobile hard disk can't make a USB FDD boot disk. So I don't know how to copy the I38 directory to the notebook. The I38 directory is about 500M. So the general flash drive can't hold it. How can I install the XP system in this case?

You also said that to install XP, the I38 directory is necessary. Since there isn't such a large flash drive, try using USBASPI.SYS, USBMASS version 4.05, or USBENAB version 4.05 to drive your external hard drive.

DOS didn't find command.com
This has nothing to do with loading usbaspi.sys. Check if there is SHELL=A:\COMMAND.COM in config.sys... If there is, change it to SHELL=COMMAND.COM... Then check PATH

Does your USB flash drive support USB-FDD boot?

I used usboot - v1.68 to make a USB flash drive bootable. After making it, I didn't see config.sys, only three files: IO.SYS, MSDOS.SYS, COMMAND.COM. So I can't add Usbaspi.sys to config.sys.
