Today someone asked me to install Redhat Linux 9.0. But his hard drive is SATA. When installing Redhat Linux 9.0, the problem of not finding the hard drive occurred and the installation couldn't continue. Finally, I installed Redflag Linux 4.1 (I thought it wouldn't recognize SATA, but unexpectedly this domestic one did recognize it, heh heh!)
After checking online, it said that the kernel of Redhat Linux 9.0 is too low. Ask how to upgrade the kernel?

Haven't tried installing RedHat Linux 9 on a SATA hard drive, but Turbo Linux 10 can be installed smoothly.

Redflg Linux 4.1 can be installed on SATA hard drives, and after default installation, you can directly view Windows partitions. I remember that Redhat Linux 9.0 cannot see the installed Windows partitions without special operations. You need to mount each partition during installation!

Searching the Internet, I found that RedHat Linux 9 really cannot be installed on SATA, only Fedora Core4 can. I wonder if any friend has installed Fedora Core4 on SATA?

Then install in the virtual machine on the SATA hard disk, haha.

I've installed RF4.1 and FC4 on SATA, both from the hard drive. My SATA hard drive is WD80JD.
I haven't tried RH9 yet. Whether it's supported can be seen from the kernel version. (It seems that those above 2.4.26 are supported, and RH9 is 2.4.20)
Also, does anyone have experience installing SOLARIS 10 on SATA? I just can't get it installed, maybe I didn't set the primary partition properly for it.

This client is a student, and it's his teacher who asked to install it this way! My friend's computer company has never installed this kind of system before! It seems that Linux has a low penetration rate! Everyone is using pirated Windows, heh heh!

Got it, try changing the SATA settings mode in the BIOS.

The main operation interfaces of Unix/Linux are all in command-line mode, which is more troublesome than DOS. There are more commands and parameters to remember, so of course the popularity is not high.

Installing on a SATA hard drive requires a boot driver or setting in the BIOS. I forgot which key to press to boot from the corresponding CD or floppy during the initial loading of the WINDOWS installation, and I think it's the same for LINUX.

Using Daemon Tools can save money as well.

My hard drive is Seagate SATA2. Successfully installed Red Hat Linux 9.0 under VMware.

VMWare can definitely be installed, no matter what hard disk you have!

You can try installing it on the actual machine!
