Features:

1. Uses GRUB0.95 boot, can directly choose to boot from floppy drive, hard drive, CD-ROM, avoiding the trouble of changing boot sequence in BIOS; combined with BCDL, it can also enable old machines that do not support CD-ROM boot to boot from CD-ROM.
2. Uses the latest version DOSLFN0.40a to fully support Chinese and English long file names under DOS (version 0.40 directly supports long file names on CDs).
3. Supports copying long file name folders, drives, etc. under DOS, thanks to FAKEWIN4 provided by Wengier.
4. Loads the latest UltraDMA drivers and high-speed cache programs for hard drives and CD-ROMs under DOS, achieving high-speed reading and writing.
5. Supports IDE, USB1.1/2.0, SCSI, IEEE1394, PCMCIA CD-ROMs and storage devices under DOS.
6. Integrates Disk Manager v9.57 with IBM STD core. Its Dynamic Drive Overlay (DDO) can enable old motherboards that do not support large hard drives to break through the 137GB capacity limit.
7. Provides NTFS4DOS with no usage restrictions, supports reading and writing NTFS under DOS and Win9x window, and supports being called in batch processing.
8. Supports recovering data or partitions of deleted FAT/NTFS file systems under DOS, backing up master boot record MBR, partition table FAT, and boot sector BOOTSECTOR; and supports copying data from NTFS file system to FAT file system, regardless of Chinese file names or long file names.
9. Supports resetting passwords of NT/2000/XP/2003 administrators and various users under DOS, supports FAT/NTFS file systems.
10. Supports network copying of partitions or entire disks based on TCP/IP protocol under DOS, supports three representative types of network cards: RTL8139, DFE530TX, IntelPro100, supports FAT/NTFS file systems.
11. Integrates the Tianhui Chinese system 96-12-31 end version (with pinyin input method) without LOGO, and can run perfectly in virtual machine VPC.
12. Realizes a graphical file manager that supports long file names and mouse operation under DOS, loads ISO images, mouse copy and paste, commands, automatic file name completion, screen keyboard acceleration, calculator, calendar, CD-ROM eject and close, etc.

Summary: The conventional memory after booting the entire disk is as high as 620-630K! The most critical thing is that this boot disk with such powerful functions and many advantages is only 1.44M standard floppy disk size.

Introduction to batch commands:
DM: DM9.57 universal version.
LoadISO: Can directly load ISO under dos in default boot, but cannot restart. LoadISO inserts virtual CD-ROM, and then specify the path and name of ISO.
NC: Select the network card type (RTL8139, DFE530TX, IntelPro100) to enable network copying (directly supports NTFS).
TW: Tianhui Chinese platform. Alt+F2 for pinyin, right Shift or Alt+F10 for Chinese-English input switching.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: There seems to be MS-DOS8.0, why still use MS-DOS7.10 kernel?
A: The highest version of Microsoft pure DOS is MS-DOS6.22, and the new versions after that are provided by Windows system, and do not exist alone. MS-DOS7.10 built in Win98 has better compatibility than MS-DOS8.0 built in WinME. MS-DOS8.0 is more like a "degenerate version" for Microsoft to gradually make DOS withdraw from history. The key difference is in IO.SYS. IO.SYS in WinME does not support DOS real mode, many DOS programs cannot run on it. This boot disk uses the IO.SYS of Win98 which I have streamlined and removed logo, which not only provides MS-DOS7.10 kernel but also can break through the limit of hard disk logic lock! (Note: The size of the IO.SYS I streamlined is 123,910 bytes, and the size of the IO.SYS streamlined by

1. The hard disk UltraDMA driver uses XDMA2.SYS V1.2 version as of June 30, 2005. The UDMA series will no longer be updated, and its author has replaced it with XDMA.
2. The CD-ROM extension driver has been updated to version SUSUCDX 3.02C (Jack R. Ellis). It is smaller in size than the original version by Jason Hood and has been rewritten to avoid the problem that NASM cannot compile smoothly. (The above two points are thanks to Mr. johnsonlam for the friendly reminder.)
3. The choice selection command error in the NC network copy of the previous version has been corrected.

---------------
1. The outdated fdisk.exe has been deleted and replaced with the most powerful AEFDISK 2.1 that supports 2TB massive hard disks. I have uploaded its Chinese instruction document aef_cn.zip to the "Tutorials" directory of the download site. The instructions are very detailed, including introducing basic knowledge such as the file allocation table (FAT).
2. The calendar.exe calendar tool has been added, which appears in the upper right corner in a graphical way. The left and right arrow keys switch months, the up and down arrow keys switch years, and the ESC key exits.
3. The calc387.com miniature 1K command-line calculator has been added, which can perform most functions of a large calculator and is a must for programmers! For example, calc387 1+4*2^3-5/4%1 calculates the result as 32.75. Typing calc387 directly displays the help.
4. There will be a prompt to insert the device when loading USB flash drives, mobile hard disks, and CD-ROMs. The driver uses the new Panasonic usbaspi 2.20 version. Thank you for the reminder. The radme of QCDROM mentions: If UMBPCI.SYS is used, the /L parameter should be added, but as a result, the CD-ROM driver cannot be loaded.
It has been corrected now. Please re-download for netizens who downloaded at 2006-3-8 13:08, or manually change the corresponding item in config.sys. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused!

I took a look. It is suggested that GRUB should not be used as a multi-boot manager on floppy disks in the future. Instead, use SYSLINUX, which can save a lot of space. The GRUB you are using takes up more than 80KB, while SYSLINUX occupies less than 10KB. SYSLINUX can also call those several boot sector files.

In addition, it is suggested to use Paragon IFS instead of NTFS4DOS. Compared with NTFS4DOS, IFS can support NTFS/EXT2/EXT3/hidden partitions and can be exited at any time. If SYSLINUX is used instead of GRUB as mentioned above, the space saved is enough to hold IFS.

1, Please teach me how Syslinux calls dm.bs? I only know how to call img. It is okay to make dm into a bootable img for Syslinux to call, but dm.img is indispensable for io.sys and command.com, which cannot share the same files with msdos.img.
2, Moreover, the bootable disk img made with Syslinux cannot be directly used as a bootable file to boot from a CD. Don't believe it, you can try it with UltraISO. This I have already discussed with tynibit. My homepage also has an SOS boot disk made based on Syslinux. If you can have a solution, then I think I have no reason to use GRUB for DOS anymore.

3, Paragon IFS Driver I have long heard of its name, of course, I will not ignore it, but after trial, first of all, its size is nearly 200kB, and second, its friendliness is similar to readntfs. Of course, if I further explore its advantages, it is not excluded to replace ntfs4dos in the future. Finally, thank you for your suggestion, and I still want to ask about point 1.

Paragon DOS IFS Driver

In the command-line interface of syslinux, you can directly input *.bs, and it can also be specified in the configuration file. Additionally, syslinux can only call the img image through memdisk, not directly.

I replaced the grub boot menu in the boot disk you posted on the top floor with a syslinux boot menu, and everything works except for shutting down and restarting. I can't upload it here, so go to http://free.ys168.com/?fujianabc to download it.

That ifs compressed into a cab is only about more than 170K (the 936.cpi inside is useless and has been deleted).

You said that the CD - ROM of syslinux cannot be booted by floppy disk emulation. I made an iso with the above - mentioned floppy disk and tested it with VPC 5.2, and it really cannot be booted directly. I originally thought it was the problem of syslinux, but later I looked through the similar problems you discussed with Budian before and thought that it might be a bug in the BIOS of VPC 5.2 itself.

Therefore, I loaded the bcdl floppy disk image with VPC and used bcdl to boot this iso, and found that the floppy disk - emulated syslinux can be booted. So it can be confirmed that it is the bug of VPC 5.2 itself that causes the iso not to be booted (because bcdl boot does not rely on the BIOS, and bcdl itself fully complies with the eltorito CD - ROM boot specification).

The following is a screenshot. It cannot be uploaded here, but it is still placed in the boot disk folder of http://free.ys168.com/?fujianabc.

Thanks to brother fujianabc for the suggestions and help. It turns out that kernel *.bs, kernel *.bin are okay. After further research, I will adopt it in the new version. Thanks again for your suggestions and help!

LZ, I want to make this larger, for example, change it to 10M size, and then use this IMG for booting. Why does it not succeed? It only boots to the point where GRUB appears, and then it's like it's stuck. Why is that?

How to make a bootable CD?

In grubdisk.txt it says:

How to make a bootable CD?

A: Install UltraISO, open UltraISO. The blank window above is the space of the CD you want to make, and the window below is the space of your local hard disk. You can freely drag the files in the hard disk you want to add in the lower window to the upper CD. Finally, click "Load boot file" in the boot CD item in the toolbar, select the GrubDisk.img file, and after completion, save it as an ISO file.

You can completely add more practical tools such as GHOST, PQ, NDD, DISKGEN, KVDOS, etc.

But I can't find GrubKisk.img
