Re qwe1234567:
Regarding the issue of upload permissions, Wengier has already made a relatively comprehensive adjustment; before the adjustment, even intermediate users didn't have upload permissions. And if we adjust the permission settings now, it seems it will also easily pose a hidden danger to the forum's security.
Currently, there are essentially two methods for uploading large attachments: one is as you did, compressing in chunks and uploading in separate posts; the other is to send the attachment to a moderator or senior user, who will upload it on your behalf.
And the current point system of the forum is quite rudimentary, manifested in two aspects.
On one hand, it's the scoring mechanism. Besides getting points for posting or replying, there are three remaining ways to earn points: one is getting additional points for posts that are rated, the second is posting posts that require points, and the third is uploading attachments that require points, but these three ways are rarely used. And as a moderator, my only way to add points is through rating, with a rating range of only -8 to +10, and there's also a daily limit of 30 points, so I can't give appropriate rewards to excellent posts or high-value posts, and the punishment for spam and malicious posts is also restricted. If we can add "gift," "reward," and "deduct" mechanisms, it can relieve this situation.
On the other hand, it's the point-using mechanism. Points affect the level, and the level only affects the size and quantity of attachments to a limited extent, and the forum's upgrade speed is relatively slow, so many new users can't perform large-scale upload operations. This is to a large extent a correct strategy because only after a long period of observation can we determine a user's usage level and moral integrity in this forum, but it also limits the enthusiasm of primary users to some extent.
The primitiveness of the forum's reward and punishment mechanism is related to the forum management's purpose of running the forum. Since the establishment of this forum, it has been based on the three principles of freedom, sharing, and communication, and all utilitarian content has been ignored or even disliked by moderators and administrators. And this habitual purpose has been maintained to this day and will continue for a long time.
