Today I spent a little time making a MiniWindows myself. The system boots with MS-DOS 7.10, to support FAT12/16/32, long filenames, and large hard disks. For Windows I used Windows (for Workgroups)(WFW) 3.11. After making it into a boot disk, you can boot directly into this MiniWindows. Download address:

Open attachment. This time I used PC-DOS 7.1 to make it, and this time it can fit completely onto a 1.44MB floppy disk.

The following is quoted from Wengier at 2003-4-6 6:29:12: Hint: The XMSDSK settings have a very large effect on MiniWindows. |

Hint: Windows's configuration files will affect how MiniWindows runs.

Didn't you notice that your MiniWindows only runs properly on your own machine?

I checked, but I don't seem to have found any problem. If you're referring to the drive letter of the RAM disk, in MiniWindows I set it to use the current path, not an absolute path.

The Progman.ini in mwfw3.zip seems like it should be:
。。。 Group1=H:\MWFW3\PROGRAMS.GRP |

It seems that line in PROGMAN.INI really does have a problem. It only needs to be changed to:
Group1=PROGRAMS.GRP and that will do. No path is needed, and no path can be added. Actually I noticed this issue while making MiniWindows. Unfortunately, when I packaged and uploaded it the last time, I forgot about it, because each time MiniWindows starts, the system automatically changes PROGRAMS.GRP to an absolute path. |

Also, your MiniWindows can still be improved a bit, such as adding saving of settings, etc.
I made some small modifications to your MiniWindows, and now I'm uploading them here for your reference.Open attachment |

Then what should be done if the floppy disk is write-protected?

Then is there any software that can detect whether a floppy disk is write-protected?

Actually, determining whether "the floppy disk is write-protected" is not difficult at all. Just use DREADY /W to check drive A:.
