Initiate a vote here on the purpose of learning DOS, hoping to explain the importance of DOS. I'll first talk about my journey of learning DOS!

The first time I came into contact with a computer was in the school computer lab. There, the school had a practical skills course, which was about computers. Those machines were still 386s, so the operating system was all DOS. Because I didn't know anything at the beginning, a lot of funny things happened. For example, it took 30 minutes to start the computer (absolutely not exaggerated, because the 5.25-inch floppy disk wasn't put into the floppy drive, oh my~~), for example, I was afraid to enter the classroom because I was afraid of infecting the computer with a virus, for example, after entering WT (a very famous五笔 practice software under the DOS system at that time, which is still very useful now, and many training classes are still using it), I used pinyin to type my own name. Now thinking about it, alas~~~~. And all this was caused by DOS. Because DOS gives people the first feeling of being mysterious. As soon as you start the computer, it's the "black-and-white warrior", which is not easy to get close to, so at that time, I had a feeling that those who could use DOS were experts. Later, internet cafes opened locally, setting off a trend, so I went online. But in the end, I surfed the internet for half a year but didn't even know how to install win98, so I entered a training class. Once I installed Meiping Security Guardian, but forgot the password. I saw the boss enter a few commands under DOS (I felt he was entering "magic spells" at that time), and then the computer was turned on. Oh my god, it was too amazing. From then on, I fell in love with DOS.

Because it can complete many functions that Windows can't. But there's no denying that Windows is still the mainstream, because its graphical interface makes its threshold lower than DOS (think about the awkward situation in the school 386 computer back then). If I hadn't been fortunate enough to come into contact with DOS and understand its advantages, I would never have touched DOS in my life.

At the beginning, my computer had a low configuration, so I could only use DOS (although I installed WIN98, I still modified the MSDOS.SYS file to only run DOS 7.10). Why do I like DOS? Of course, it's because DOS is compact and can control the computer as much as possible. Think about today's WINDOWS, it's too complex and large. It's no longer something I can handle well to control WINDOWS. So although I'm using WINDOWS, I hate its bulkiness and complexity. I can't deeply access the system to further adjust it. Under DOS, I was fortunate to get to know 4DOS and CCDOS Chinese platforms. Until now, I'm still amazed by the perfection of 4DOS. Although most of my work is done under WINODWS, I still can't do without DOS, especially the perfect 4DOS. Of course, Chinese DOS is also what I'm infatuated with. I try my best to add the once glorious Chinese DOS systems to the system. Maybe it's a kind of nostalgia, but I like the simplicity and smoothness of DOS, which is beyond doubt.

Who among those playing DOS hasn't had the experience of starting the computer again and again to get the maximum UMB? At that moment, how satisfying and happy it was. Remembering that every time I could get more UMBs back then, that kind of happiness is probably something I can't experience with WINDOWS now.

DOS gives you more freedom, while WINDOWS restricts all of this. DOS can give full play to the performance of the computer to the greatest extent, while WINDOWS wastes a lot of performance in unnecessary places. Think about the requirements of today's XP for the machine. I deleted it helplessly after only two days because even though my machine has 256M of memory and a 1.33G CPU, it still can't handle it. I don't know where the future Microsoft will take us?

I miss the DOS era, but at least for me, the DOS era is over. Although I can't do without it, my focus has shifted to WINDOWS.

I've always been using a top-notch machine with Windows XP. But I was forced to use DOS to fix some old machines.

Using DOS definitely has the fun of using DOS. The word "forced" is so sad. Hehe...

As long as you can enter DOS, it's actually very simple to crack Meiping. As follows:

Press the F8 key at the third screen during startup (with some grid lines), select item 5, the DOS command prompt C:\>_ will appear, type ren smenu smenuu and press Enter to execute. There will be some prompts when restarting, just press Enter regardless. Suppose Meiping has blocked the F8 key, then use the boot disk to enter the DOS system.

I really don't know this...
Can you explain it? Thanks

Press the F8 key on the third boot screen to bring up a Microsoft Win98 Startup Menu. Select the 5th item "Command Prompt Only" and then the DOS prompt c:\> will appear. At the DOS prompt, type ren smenu smenuu. Here, ren is the rename command in DOS, which means changing smenu to smenuu (Meiping is installed in the smenu folder on drive C. In this way, the computer will not find the smenu folder when booting, and naturally the Meiping executable file in this folder will not start. (Therefore, it doesn't have to be smenuu later, as long as it has a different name from smenu.) But Meiping has an option to block the F4 and F8 keys. If it is selected, you must use the boot disk to enter the system and then execute the above command.
